We had the good fortune of connecting with Susan Bridges and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Susan, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Seeing a piece of immersive artwork that engages the senses. A couple of years ago, I saw a mirrored house in Palm Springs that artist, Doug Aiken created for Desert X. The imagery has not subsided for me to date. For me, this is art!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Owner/director of Whitespace Gallery. My journey began with studying Art History and then took a circuitous route through work through time spent in the world of advertising. Advertising was my introduction and hands on approach into the creative process. My job prepared me for the role of gallery director as I worked between creatives and the accounts team and is really what I do today. I represent artists and try to sell their art. I think one of the lessons I’ve learned is that it’s important to listen. Listening to the artists I work with and listening to my clients. I would like the world to know that art is for everyone. You do not have to be a millionaire to have a nice collection of art, most dealers offer payment plans and are happy to work with a client who is sincere about building a collection.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Get a drink at Ticonderoga, go to dinner at Boca Lupo or Staplehouse, drinks later at the Rooftop at Hotel Clermont, get a popsicle from the King of Pops, music at Grocery on Home or jazz at Ziba’s on Sunday evenings.
