We had the good fortune of connecting with Solomon Nelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Solomon, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I often say “Everything I touch will become successful”. It started off as a daily affirmation, however, time has proved it to be true. I’ve had my hands in a few investments early on, and it seems like one after another, in due time become profitable. I continue to repeat this quote daily to remind me to take risk and not doubt myself. I believe fear holds most of us back in life, and I refuse to let that be me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My 9-5 job is in cyber and information security. I have several industry certification in the field and currently pursuing a masters in Cyber Security. There’s no easy way to get into cyber security, it’s paved with theoretical, mathematical, and scientific courses to prepare you for the complexity of computer science. However, I don’t say any of that to discourage anyone, it’s an amazing field, filled with an exponential number of niche’s to get into. Some harder than others, but all requiring a great deal of time and focus.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Pin & Proper, and Blue lounge are some of my favorite spot’s in Atlanta. Usually the first 2 spot’s I bring people new to the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My older siblings Rinata Nelson-Tanks PhD, JP Nelson, Amber Nelson, and Spencer Blue play a large part in my success today. Always raising the bar and setting standards early on that very few achieve in a lifetime. They made sure to teach me responsibility, the laws of power, and the art of hustle. I most certainly wouldn’t be the man I am today without them. I appreciate the virtues each have taught me over the years.
