Meet SM Tone | Artist, Label Owner & Graphic Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with SM Tone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SM, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is only a bad thing when you let it hinder you from action. Most of the time growth can’t happen without risk which is why I feel that I’m unstoppable, I’m willing to risk everything for what I believe in. In my career I’ve had to take a a lot of risks like paying to meet with labels and managers and even when things didn’t go as planned it always put me in a better position than before I started. You can’t have reward without taking risks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an overachiever, once I have my mind set on a goal, I learn the required information and set out to do what I intended. What sets me apart from others is that, I invest in myself everyday and I’ve disciplined myself to be goal achieving. I got to where I am today by having a vision and investing all of my time and resources into my dream. It wasn’t easy, I’ve had a lot of setbacks and lost money but I’ve always came out on the other side better than I went in. I over came these challenges by remembering why I started in the first place, which is to show the world that anything is possible. I want the world to know, I started off broke with a vision and anything you put your mind to can be achieved if you sacrifice for it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well first we gotta hit up my studio which is located by greenbriar mall in Atlanta,ga. Then we gotta go get some real soul food from JJ’s Rib Shake on Campbellton Road. And you gotta make sure you check out Greenbriar Mall if you need a fit for the night. After that we’ll hit up one of the best strip clubs in the city, Blue Flame. You gotta try the hot wings in the Blue Flame, 10/10. After the club most people go home but we going back to the studio to record a video or content. Can’t forget about Waffle House, if it’s 3am and you need somewhere to eat? Look no further than yo closest Waffle House they’ll get you right.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I want to shout out God for bringing me this far in my life and career. Second I want to shout my team the Soufside Mafia members for staying down since the beginning; KFP Ken, Kev Swavé, Teflon Quan, Soufside Rio, Sackright KO, Soufside Eli & Georgehudsoniv. And big shout out to my lady for keeping my head straight when stuff gets hard.
