We had the good fortune of connecting with Simbi Animashaun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Simbi, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Other than deciding to work for myself, the single most important decision that I made that contributed to my success is healing from the past and focusing on creating a brighter future. Four years ago, I decided to take a leap of faith in a number of areas in my life. I was tired of living in sorrow, depression, and misery. I had allowed ignorant people and uncontrollable situations to take the power over my life. I prayed and prayed and prayed. My prayers slowly began being answered. In 2017, I discovered that I was pregnant. Although I was excited to be pregnant again, I was also very nervous for the next eight months. Experiencing loss…. hurts! However, my prayers continued daily, and in 2018, I gave birth to my first son. I also began to seek professional counseling to overcome the hurt that I experienced from enduring recurrent miscarriages (four to be exact), a brain hemorrhage, and a failed relationship (to the man that I hoped to marry).

In 2019, I miraculously became a mother again. I gave birth to my daughter! After my miscarriages, I never thought this day would ever happen to me. In November 2020, I gave birth to my third child. Another son! I LOVE BEING A BOY MOM!
During the pandemic as I still worked on my healing process, I became inspired by a coworker to write a book detailing my story – my pain. As I drafted my book, I was able to release more hurt that I was carrying. I wanted to inspire others and that’s exactly what I accomplished when I published my book, “The Power of Healing: A Memoir of Loss & Victory” in May 2021. That same year, I decided to resign from a stressful job that didn’t allow me to grow. I am now free to be myself again. Since then, I have established a business, Simmaculate Health & Wellness, LLC, in which I offer services and products that cater to one’s self-care and wellness needs.


Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

The road to establishing Simmaculate Health & Wellness, LLC was not easy! Being a single mother of three small children, (although they are my three blessings), can be challenging. I struggled to find a balance between my professional and personal life. But then I resigned from my teaching position in February 2021, which was a huge relief. After my resignation, I was able to focus on my passions and create goals that would not only allow me and my family to thrive but help others do the same in the process. After publishing my book in May 2021, I wanted to establish a business that would complement my story.
Enduring recurrent miscarriages in 2014 and 2015 was mentally draining, but it took me recognizing that I had to change my lifestyle (i.e., mentally, physically, emotionally, etc.) in order to experience a change. I’m still expanding my brand, but at the moment, I offer self-care and wellness services and products for both women and men. Services and products include whipped body butter, body scrub, freshly cold-pressed juices, bath bombs, yoni products, body sculpting services (i.e. lipo cavitation, butt lifts, wood therapy, etc.), and waxing services.
When you look good, you feel good! I want the world to know that my brand is authentic. All my products are handmade and cater to my customer’s individual needs. I recognize that we are all uniquely designed.


Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would create the following itinerary for them: Monday: Atlanta Breakfast Club, Shopping at Atlantic Station, & Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ
Tuesday: Milk & Honey, Georgia Aquarium, Coca-Cola Factory, & Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint
Wednesday: Flying Biscuit Cafe, Wine Down Wednesday, & Spondivits
Thursday: Waffle House, I Love Massage, Pappadeux
Friday: Thumbs Up Diner, Nail & Spa, Varsity, & Gold Room
Saturday: Tiffany Hair & Co, Day Party, Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse
Sunday: Salem Bible Church & Nana’s Chicken & Waffles

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

There are a number of people who contributed to my success! However, I must recognize my coworker, Cinnamon Jordan, who inspired me to tell my story in a book. Our sisterhood began at work in 2019 (although we spoke occasionally before then). We would have brief conversations about life, work, etc. during our short planning periods. Each time, she started sharing more and more about her past experiences.
One day, she told me that she wrote about book about her heart attack experience. I never judge a book by its cover, but by her beauty, you would never tell that she had experienced anything traumatic. I immediately purchased her book and read it in a day. I felt so many emotions and at that moment, my love for her grew even stronger. She was a walking testimony! And so was I, but I was afraid of being judged. After I shared my story with her, she instantly persuaded me (in a good way), to start my journey as an author.
“Who cares what others think. This is your testimony!” she would say. Cinnamon shared her gems and graciously walked me through the process of publishing my first book.
In May 2021, I published my memoir, “The Power of Healing: A Memoir of Loss & Victory”.
