We had the good fortune of connecting with Shiqueasha Harrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shiqueasha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting The Nookyy Slayer was… Growing up I seen my mom working for this person and that person and working from this company to that company with no real stability. Now as an adult looking back at all of that I just knew I needed to have something of my own to pass down to my daughter Harmony because I do not want her growing up looking at me the way I looked at my mom. I want her to grow older learning the business and having a business mind set of wanting her own business and learning from the best which is me and her aunties. I didn’t have them kind of choses as a kid or an young adult. I watched my best friends Lydia Curry Owner Of Loco Volumes And Brandi McLamb Owner Of ThePleasureBoxx start their businesses and started to learn from them and still is learning from them. I truly believe that having strong women to look up to and having a strong mind set will help you get to higher places in life.

What should our readers know about your business?
Being an entrepreneur is definitely not easy. You have good days and you have bad days. I had to learn that no matter how bad your days may be you have to keep pushing along. The very beginning of starting my business I had difficulty finding the perfect vendors to brand my product, everyone is out to make money and some people will sell you anything for a dollar and I had to learn that along the way, Once I solidified my products I went on to hosting pop up shops . Hosting pop up shops helped me be more vocal I’ve learned how to speak in a professional manor , I learned how to BE MY BRAND !! The amount of networking and meeting people who are like me with drive and ambition excites me . Today I am proud of my growth I look forward to hosting popup shops I look forward to all new clientele and all the new adventures that comes my way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Firstly, Im introducing both of my best friends to each other. After that its uppp !! We will be hitting up magic hour for a brunch date. We going to Top gulf that’s something we’ve never done before !! We going to Ellis Island to see the Statue of Liberty and take in them breath taking views!! We hitting 42nd street so she can see the big bright lights and do some shopping while acting like tourist. One of them days we will definitely hit Coney Island with our kids. I’m sure that after a adventrious few days my ladies are going to want to make some kind of business moves. Maybe we can take part in a pop-up shop to do some networking ending the week being productive business women.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Im shouting out my Best friend Lydia Curry Owner Of Loco Volumes for recommending The Nookyy Slayer to Shoutout Atlanta and giving me the opportunity to expand The Nookyy Slayer to another state other then New York. I am also shouting out my other Best friend Brandi McLamb Owner of ThePleasureBoxx. Both of these wonderful women shows me on a regular bases the most mural support and love. They both encourage me to be better then yesterday. Some days are very hard but they make sure to make everyday easier for me.
