We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheronna Osbourne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheronna, what role has risk played in your life or career?

As an only child, actress, and self-taught director/producer, embracing risk has always been a part of my journey. Whether embarking on solo travel around the world, making bold choices for an audition tape or taking on new directing projects, I’ve found that my capacity to assess, challenge, and ultimately” just go for it”, has shaped me as an artist. Taking risks have not only led to remarkable discoveries but also opened doors to invaluable opportunities. I encourage every artist to cultivate a spirit of discernment and exploration, unafraid to to be seen trying. In my book, L stands for Lesson not Loss.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

As an actress/director who initially entered the film industry as a costume buyer, I believe my ability to seamlessly juggle multiple roles sets me apart. Collaboration and communication are paramount in this industry, and my experience as both an actress and a director allows me to effectively communicate with actors while understanding the significance of costume in storytelling.

Currently, I’m thrilled to be writing my first feature film. I’ve always wanted to create a sci-fi thriller centered around a Black protagonist, and I’m excited to pursue this direction.

Throughout my journey, a key lesson I’ve internalized is to never underestimate myself. By preparing diligently and positioning myself for opportunities, I’ve witnessed them manifest. A mantra that I say to myself daily that has always been my reminder that I am worthy and qualified for my dreams. Three words: “WHY…NOT…ME?”

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My journey so far has been very unorthodox in a lot of ways but it always included someone who simply decided to give me a chance. I want to shout out a fab black woman writer and producer named Nicole Chrysostum- Murray who gave me my first opportunity to direct her first short film called “boxed In” starring Renee Neufville ( from the group Zhané).
