We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherika Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherika, what do you attribute your success to?
My personality, handwork and energy helps me teaching. I have created a safe space for people to come and be themselves, and boost their confidence. My ability of being able to work with a large crowd can be challenging, but my determination keeps me going.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I moved from Eufaula, Al & became a line dance instructor in 2021, after having double knee surgery. I was new to the Montgomery area so my class started out very small. I didn’t give up because of low attendance starting out. I kept building! I knew I had a purpose in this. I named my class Sherika Nicole’s Groovy Line Dance Workout Class. I wanted people to come move their body the fun way, while getting a workout. Over the course of time my class grew tremendously and I was forced to move into a much bigger space. My class It’s just a vibe! Groovy Line Dance is really just different! This isn’t just my saying, but I get testimonials all the time after ones attendance of my class. I absolutely love being a line dance instructor. I’ve seen a class as large as 125 people. I have participants as young as 25 and as old as 70 years of age. I’ve connected with hundreds of people and made some awesome connections. In December 2023 I won the Line Dance Instructor of the year in Houston, Tx at the ZBT Awards. My top created viral line dance was Lil Weight by King George. I try my best to give my students opportunities to be apart of amazing experiences that I’m presented with. From performing live with Erealist, Cupid, FPJ & Mike Clark Jr. I want them to know and understand, Groovy Line Dance is what it is because they are apart. My classes are every Tuesday in Montgomery, Al at My Place event center 149 Eastern Blvd (Marlo Pickett)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I want to step out on a Good Friday night and do some line dancing. Brins Wings on Bell Road here in Montgomery, Al is definitely my go to. For some of the best fried chicken I’ve tasted. I always stop by Double Down Bistro, also located in Montgomery, Al. The atmosphere and food is great.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My entrepreneur journey has been amazing! But it has truly been grand having a supportive partner, Rodney Wilkerson by my side. From the emails, to the contracts, and business proposal calls. He has walked me through and taught me professionally how to handle any business situation I was faced with. I’m forever grateful for his continued support in all I do!
