We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheng Ly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheng, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My journey has its season of lessons and rewards within the balance of work and life.

One lesson of work life balance that I’ve learned overtime is that you cannot grow your business alone. It takes a village to grow, impact, and thrive! I’m grateful for every connection, vendors, and community thus far to uplift the position, status, and platform I have today.

Another I’ve faced and still today is learning how to balance running my own business while raising a family. There will be dry seasons of sacrifices within motherhood/parenthood, but a sacrifice worth pausing for.

Last one that many may not see or voice, but a challenge of rest – balance of your physical, mental, and spiritual health. Years after years of striving, we eventually start straining our rest short. I have learned to set discipline off days, sabbatical, and live a little!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an event specialist based out of Atlanta (and beyond). I have been working in the wedding/events industry for over fifteen years. I have been known for my sharp eyes on details and genuine honesty. Other interests I enjoy are interior designs and photography.

Sheng Ly Events is an event planning and floral design company specialized in celebrating you. We can take your unforgettable vision and bring it to life. Our focus is to plan and execute that plan with the utmost precision. I have done religious, cultural, formal, informal, and destination weddings.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…” Colossians 3:23

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We definitely will hit the most hip and coolest places in Atlanta such as Krogs Market, Ponce City Market (including The Roof and the Atlanta Beltline), Atlanta Station, Georgia Aquarium, Coca-Cola Factory, Piedmont Park, and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens! As though these places have their share of foodie eateries in the area, we will move toward Asian Towns in the pockets of Doraville, Duluth, and Buford for Dim Sum, Korean BBQ, Hot Pot, and Boba Milk Tea Drinks! In the outskirts of Atlanta, the must-see sites and monuments are Stone Mountain Park, Providence Canyon State Park, Amicalola Falls, and Tallulah Gorge State Park!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I want to thank God for placing me, and the calling over my life in the Wedding Industry! Without the gifts and talents, He has blessed me with, I wouldn’t be here today!

Second, I am so thankful and grateful for my Husband, Fong, for always believing and supporting me right by my side! I love you so much!

But for the ones who truly deserved this Shoutout, I would like to dedicate to Denise Myers and Terri Knowlton Rice! I had the honor to intern with Denise Myers, owner of “TruSo Weddings”, who took me under her wings. After I graduated, Denise referred me to one of her good friends, Terri Knowlton Rice, owner of “Everything and More Weddings!”, where I discovered my crafts and creativity towards décor styling and floral design. With two great mentors guiding me through the Wedding industry, first hand, Sheng Ly Events was born, 2012! It’s more than a decade now, and Sheng Ly Events is still growing and thriving! All because they took the time to pour their wisdom and knowledge over me. I am truly grateful and I hope I made you two proud!
