We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheena Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheena, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“A is for Attitude, which determines your Altitude in Life.”

This quote was told to me while I was in high school. These few words can make a world of a difference in achieving your goals, opening doors of opportunities, or just meeting people who could change your life. When you live with a positive attitude, one can be self-motivated and can even change the dynamics of those around them. When have you ever seen a person with a horrible attitude motivate a team, encourage someone who is enduring life’s hardships or not be so quick to give up? Having a positive attitude can be the little push that one might need to get through their current hardship because their breakthrough of success just might be on the other side.

I like that a quote so simple can really make a difference in all the realms of your life. Your attitude can take you places in life that degrees and experience cannot. Do not get me wrong, I am ALL for degrees and experiences, however, you have to have just a little more to make others see why you are truly unique.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A natural passion for real estate coupled with familiarity with buying and selling of homes launched my career as a real estate agent with EPI Real Estate here in Birmingham, AL. Working with a realty team that has proved themselves to their community and clients to provide excellent service and extensive industry knowledge enhances my career, but most importantly the client’s experience. My personal work ethic allows me to always go above and beyond what is necessary to make sure that goal is accomplished while providing the best outcome for my clients.

The hardest part has been knowing when and actually pulling back at certain times. I am naturally a people pleaser, so when I come across clients that are undecisive I use to get caught up in their indecisiveness instead trying to steer them to make a decision. This took time away from other clients and would have me overly invested in the same clients for an extensive time frame. This was a learning lesson for myself and also helped me to manage my clientele better.

I want my clients to remember me as a person who wanted to genuinely help them and not try to make money off of them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Birmingham is full of different spots to cater to everyone. Here are some of my personal favorite spots to check out.

Ruby Sunshine in Homewood, AL has a great brunch menu along with great mimosas.
Michael’s Restaurant at the Regions’ Field is a nice intimate restaurant with great food
Saltgrass Steak house has some great fried pickles and peppers, but don’t leave without trying the Patron Margarita
Farmbowl + Juice Company is AWESOME for something light. I recommend the Farm Bowl acai bowl

TopGolf is always a family favorite
Red Mountain Park and Trail in Homewood has 15 miles of hiking trails as well as a very fun zip-line
Regions’ Field to watch a few Birmingham Barons’ games
Birmingham Race Course for those interested in watching the horse and dog races nationwide. Dog races are also held on site
Five-Star Fitness in downtown Birmingham operated by Germaine Mobley is where I go religiously for an intense HIIT workout class. Classes are five times a week and there is also a beginner class that starts every month called “21 Days of Hell”

PerfectNote in Hoover, AL is a favorite to listen to live music and musicians accompanied with Soul food.
Bar Sebastian is a upscale cocktail rooftop bar that provides a beautiful scenery of Birmingham, the Regions Field along with good music
Moon Shine rooftop is another favorite. This rooftop bar is located at the top of Elyton Hotel in the heart of downtown. Great for meeting up with friends and family to relax and enjoy a beautiful view!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my mother for always being my number 1 supporter and cheerleader, I want to also thank Wendy Hicks for being a mentor that would drop gems along the way in her career to help me to advance and avoid the same mistakes that she made, Lastly, my friends and family that even my name as a referral to even just one person!
