We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaniece “Queen” Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaniece “Queen”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my waxing business because I wanted to create a space where clients could feel comfortable, confident, and cared for while receiving high-quality, efficient, and affordable waxing services. With my years of experience as both a wax specialist and trainer, I saw a need for a place that prioritized not just speed and technique but also client education and a welcoming atmosphere. My goal was to build a business that made waxing a seamless and positive experience for everyone, helping them feel their best with every visit.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a licensed esthetician with five years of experience specializing in waxing, along with three years of training others new to the industry. Before transitioning into esthetics, I spent 15 years in early childhood education, which gave me a natural passion for teaching. I take pride in continuously learning and helping others master the best techniques and practices to succeed in this field.

I opened my first suite in my hometown, Cincinnati, Ohio, shortly after graduating from Moeller Hollywood Beauty School. At the time, I was working full-time for Cincinnati Public Schools during the day and seeing clients in the evenings. I had no clear idea of everything it took to run a business, but I had the drive to learn and build as I went. Not long after opening, I took the biggest leap of my life and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. It felt like a crazy decision—I had only been in business for a few months—but after praying on it, all the signs pointed to it being the right move.

Once in Georgia, I wanted the transition to be as smooth as possible, so I started working for a large waxing chain to establish myself and build clientele before opening another location. After a few years of making connections and growing my client base, I knew it was time to step out on my own again. It wasn’t an easy decision—I tend to get comfortable, and I’ve always lived by the saying, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.” But deep down, I knew there was more in store for me if I was willing to take the risk. I prayed for clarity, and soon enough, everything started aligning in ways I couldn’t ignore.

Once my mind was made up, there was no stopping me. Within a month, I found the perfect space and got everything in order to open. Less than a week after getting the keys, I was up and ready to take clients. Just like my relocation, this leap of faith fell into place seamlessly, reaffirming that when God places something in your heart, He will also make space for it to flourish. It may not always be easy, but it is always worth it.

Esti Queen LLC is my pride and joy. I truly love offering services that help people feel their best. The deep conversations, laughter, and life moments I share with my clients fuel me to keep going because I know that in some way, I’m making a small but meaningful difference in their lives. And that, in turn, makes a huge difference in mine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Places to Eat & Explore in Atlanta
• Bar Taco – This spot offers delicious and affordable menu selections, with some of the best and most refreshing margaritas I’ve ever had.
• North Italia – As a big fan of Italian cuisine, I can’t get enough of their handmade pastas. And let’s not forget the amazing truffle bread—it’s so good I could eat it alone and be satisfied.
• Juicy Crab – This place never disappoints. You have to try the Juicy Crab Special—it’s to die for. Plus, weekends are extra fun with a live DJ and karaoke, guaranteeing a great time.

Things to Do
• Piedmont Park – One of my favorite things about Atlanta is its parks. You can’t go wrong with a picnic at Piedmont Park, and if you’re lucky, you might catch one of the many festivals held there—it’s always a great experience.
• The BeltLine – A must-visit! It’s the perfect place for a scenic stroll, surrounded by incredible cultural art. There are always interesting people to see and plenty of great spots to grab refreshments along the way.
• Georgia Aquarium – The live dolphin show is breathtaking, and with so much to explore, it’s a place worth visiting more than once. I’ve been twice already and can’t wait to go back again soon!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to two of my favorite people who have been by my side since the very beginning of my journey as an esthetician and entrepreneur. Their unwavering support is one of the biggest reasons I continue to push forward.

To my sister and best friend, Shanita—no one can ever measure up to what you mean to me.

And to my fiancé, Michael—you are my source of motivation and inspiration, and I admire you more than you know.
