We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanell Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shanell, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I ever had to make was choosing my job over my business. I was working as a pharmacy technician & was working 11hrs a day 4 days a week . I was literally working all day 11am-10pm I didn’t have time for anything ! I had customers that would text me asking am I available for makeup but would have to turn them down cause of my job ! One day I was like “ forget that I’m bout to start accepting my appointments “ & that’s exactly what I did ! Lol I was working from home as a pharmacy tech so I learned how to maneuver around it. I was doing makeup while still on the clock Lol. My clientele still wasn’t up till the point I wanted to quit my job ! So ofc I chose my job over makeup cause that’s where the real money was coming from
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Im most excited about my clientele! That’s all I ever wanted was to see an increase in my clientele cause that lets me know I’m doing something right ! I always said if I get at least 2 clients/ customers a day that would make me quit my job 2 clients a day equals up to how much I was getting paid at my job well a lil more ! Yes I did my math I really had everything planned out, so I started seeing that like the ending of January 2021. It wasn’t easy at all ofc you go have some bad days and I had a lot of bad days I’m not go lie but I love how my good days outweighing my bad days now. People really just starting booking me and I’m so grateful for the support, then seeing the same people come back makes me happy fr !
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ok so I live in Miami, I’m from Coconut Grove. Majority of my family live in Atlanta so I don’t really to much know about the spots there lol. But I’ll definitely take her to some of the places I been at up there. Me & my friends like to drink and listen to music so we’ll most likely club the whole time ! And since me and my friends have kids we’ll do kids activities with them. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My cousin Aisha ! I come to her FIRST with all my ideas and she supports me in any & every way. She the one paid for my makeup class 3 years ago. Y’all go follow & shop @TailoredCrowns on Instagram btw that’s her business !
