We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The 411 Foundation’s success is driven by the overwhelming support from the community and the advocates who believe in our vision of Inspiring people to make a difference in the lives of others. We’ve combined their support with our mission and The 411 Foundation team to successfully serve our community. For example, our annual Back to School Supply Drive is successful because of donations from our supporters. We were able to donate enough pillows to furnish every room at the Ronald McDonald House because of the support from our corporate partners. We owe a huge thank you to our supporters and corporate partners.

What should our readers know about your business?
The 411 Foundation will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary at the end of 2020. While every anniversary is important to us, this one is a bit more special because it is a reminder to our team that we have served our community for a decade. The 411 Foundation has grown from an idea into a recognizable organization in Columbus, which means our mission of inspiring people to make a difference in the lives of others connected with the community and our work speaks for itself. We are committed to serving the community through outreach, programming, and training opportunities. Although we faced our challenges along the way, our commitment to serving the community never wavered — we are committed to making a difference in the lives of others. While it may sound cliché, we would have continued pressing forward with our mission even if we had only helped one person.

The existence of The 411 Foundation is rooted in the John Bunyan quote which states “you have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” We are excited for what’s next and the emerging opportunities to serve our community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
While I am a bit of a homebody, I enjoy sporting events. I would take the opportunity to show my friend the best sporting events that Columbus has to offer — the Blue Jackets, Clippers, and Columbus Crew games. I’m always up for some good food so I would treat my friend to the Walrus, Little Palace, Club 185, Hot Chicken Takeover, or Tip Top.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I want to THANK my mother for showing me and teaching me what hard work is. My mother taught me how to treat people well and what love is all about. If it wasn’t for my mother and all of her love The 411 Foundation wouldn’t be here today. My mother has always kept my father’s legacy alive by telling me what a good man my father was and how much he loved my sister Marcy and I. My girlfriend Lori and our son Isaac are also very important to the success of The 411 Foundation. They are so helpful and involved with everything that The 411 Foundation does. I have to give a big shout out to one of my best friends, Russell Gory for always supporting The 411 Foundation and never letting me quit. David Ingram and Winston Tidwell are my Board of Directors President and Vice President – they always support my crazy ideas to help people in our community and will push me to step out of our comfort zone of what The 411 Foundation is doing to help others. A few other people who are always supportive of The 411 Foundation are Michael Jett, Felicia Shanklin, MaeLynn Lester, Dave McMann, Chad and Shannon Landrum, Jennifer Thompson, Howard Heston, Barb Hennis, Malcolm Treadway, Mark Palmer and Brian Lester. I’d like to say Thank You to a few families who always support The 411 Foundation. The Murray/Bickley, Dietrich and Andreoli families have always been supportive of all that The 411 Foundation does.

I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch of people and I don’t mean to so BLAME IT ON MY HEAD NOT MY HEART. I appreciate all of the support!
