We had the good fortune of connecting with Scoop Comeaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scoop, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Reading! Growing up, I never had enough discipline to finish a good book. My uncle Nate would give me books for my birthday. One day I came across a Fiction book, and recognized the author’s name. It was over 300 pages. I challenged myself to finish it. Finishing it sparked my confidence, furthermore, leading me into wanting to do it again, and again. So I did. The key, though, is that instead of fiction books, I chose self help and financial literature.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The best way to describe me is, Artist. I’ve always been creative and a critical thinker. Music is my first love. Growing up in a house where I was forced to fall asleep to old school music, I became in tune with the power of words, poetry. I would write out lyrics to a song that described how I felt about my crush, for example, and give it to her. It never worked lol. Still, I knew what I felt was real. Being a 90s kid, hip hop and R&B was everything. Kriss Kross were my favorite rappers. When Bow Wow came out, I seen myself being just like him. At that point, I devoted myself to Hip Hop. I lowkey wanted to be a DJ as well. I still could! I took cartooning as an elective in HS. I play a little snare drum, a little piano. Point is, everything I am is Artistic. 4 Years ago, I picked up a camera, which was around the time I start reading books, and overstanding what it takes to escape the check to check trap. That was the inception of ‘Shoot By Scoop’. I’ve turned that into SBS Productions. My first project, February of 2019, was an Awards Show called The C.O.C.O.A Awards, which stands for Celebrating Our Culture & Outstanding Achievements. We just had an amazing third year, where we introduced our annual Brunch. Was it easy? of course not. I’ve had to overcome homelessness, public humiliation, outgrowing childhood friends. The journey is never easy, but the destination is motivation! I’ve learned that to get anywhere, you have to start somewhere. The L you take stands for Lesson! So don’t be afraid to start. Don’t worry about how it’s happening for someone else, unless you’re willing to compensate them to teach you. Still, it’s going to come down to your own work ethic. I’ve learned the Law of Attraction, which is, essentially, The Golden Rule. I decided on who I wanted to become, and tuned myself to the frequency that like minded people were vibing on. Now I have a trusted network of Artist and Curators that have genuine love and respect for my brand. And that’s what my brand represents! We are a generation of shift! We have not only the ability, but responsibility, to break generational curses and create generational wealth, by promoting a healthier mentality and financial literacy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would tell someone visiting to touch down on a Thursday Morning. Most visitors already have ideas in mind like; Roscoes, Hollywood, Nipsey Square, the Beach. I would start at Nipsey Square, not only will you be in a legendary part of LA, you will be in the HEART of LA. Mind you, its a Thursday, so it wont be as messy as a weekend. We will be able to flow smoothly. I have family in the area where we can get some home cooked food. One of my favorite areas is the Fairfax district. A good place to eat is Sweet Chick. This is a dope area to shop for the weekend. Fairfax will lead you to Melrose. Go west on Melrose it gets bougie, go east, it gets vibey! I enjoy both, for the record. Friday we at Rush Street in Culver City to rock with Dj Looney! Upscale (No cover) Restaurant downstairs, bar and indoor/outdoor lounge upstairs. The weekend calls for Day Party and Brunch vibes. A lot of good places to brunch. My favorite is wherever there is bottomless! Day Party LA is the littest. I advise come on that weekend. Tell them Scoop sent you. Throughout the week, its not hard to find a dope Happy hour. Parking can be a hassle but a lot of parking structures are cheaper than you think. Santa Monica has good ones at the promenade. Overall, there’s always something dope to do when you have relationships with the right people..
