We had the good fortune of connecting with Romeo Adkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Romeo, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?

“Dear God, give me a deep love for the and guide me so that nothing will be too hard for me to
bear.”
This is a short prayer that I wrote and have tattooed on my left arm. It is a daily reminder to me
the Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other photographers is my persistence. I understood out of the gate that my success in photography wouldn’t come immediately. I knew I would face certain challenges along my journey and that in order for me to overcome them I would need to remain grounded and focused. Another thing that sets me apart from other photographers is my high level of passion for the art. What drives me the most about photography is being able to capture and create images that people will cherish for a lifetime. Throughout my photography journey, I have learned that practice makes progress and that learning never stops.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

First things first we’d have to stop by Slim & Husky’s to grab a Nashville Hot Chicken pizza and then we’d visit all there is to see in Fifth & Broadway area. We’d most definitely stop by the National Museum of African American Music before heading over to Willie B’s to grab another bite to eat. After that we would enjoy the Nashville nightlife and probably visit Minerva to enjoy the laid back vibes, have a few drinks and meet up with some other friends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Most importantly, I would like to dedicate my shoutout to God. Without God I am nothing, and it is because of Him that I have been able to achieve the level of success that I have. Secondly, I would like to recognize my photography mentor, Motelewa Smith. Motelewa has given me his hindsight to use as my foresight.
