We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly. Owning my own business was something that actually came to mind when I was right around 19. At the time I was coming up in the streets of Cleveland Oh. I remember sitting talking to a friend and she ask. What am I going to do with my life? At that moment is when I first told her and myself that I wanted to own a Barbershop. By 19 I had tried 3 or 4 different jobs and the check to check just wasn’t for me. But how interesting the road was to get I would have never imagined…

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Business, Rejuvenations Barbershop, Grayson Ga. “ It’s Not just haircuts…it’s Rejuvenations” that’s our slogan and we stand by that. Anytime I can set myself aside for the rejuvenation of another I am all for it. Pretty much the each one teach one method is something that I have always desired to do.. and with in the process of owning my own business I learned that that energy is contagious and now I have a shop that it runs through daily.

What I am most proud of? I think I most proud of my ability to work hard but within that the motivation and inspiration that I hear it gives to others. The reason that I say here is because although motivating or inspiring others wasn’t my initial goal is humbling to hear it from different people at different times. .

How did I get to where I am today businesswise and was it easy ? I got here simply because I believe in waking up early and giving it 100% every single day. I think the biggest thing that helped me get to where I am today business wise is putting one flyer in 50 different people hand every single day for roughly 6 months, seeking the opportunity to cut peoples hair and build a steady clientele. I think this alone stimulated the growth of my business within the first year of me moving to Atlanta. Was it easy? Absolutely not. I was coming from a place where I knew many people to a new town new city, trying to tap into a new way of living without knowing anyone. No way is trying to hand 50 different people 50 flyers. Every day was easy but I knew that it would be worth it.! I think I overcame the challenges by simply not being willing to give up..

What lessons have i learned along the way?
As my grandmother taught me to always be 100% in your dealings. In other words, don’t do bad business. I have learned that the best way you can help your self is to help others. Being a blessing to others opens doors that you wouldn’t even imagine. last but certainly not least it’s all about consistency and hard work. If you consistently work hard, it is bound to work in your favor.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of my friends was coming to the area and I wanted to show them a good time on a week long stay. I don’t necessarily like itineraries when I’m out of town so I won’t do itinerary but I would run down a couple of things that I think is good to do or visit.. for starters, we would need a city view apartment and Buckhead, one of those buildings with the rooftop and nice views. We definitely hire a driver and one of those black trucks.. for me cultural outdoor events in downtown is always a nice vibe between the good food good music and tons of people you really can’t go wrong. Is so many great restaurants in the area. A couple of my favorite is of course Pappadeaux’s, and Sage Woodfire perimeter. It’s soo many fly restaurants it’s really hard to point which way. Renting and taking a ride through the city in a slingshot a filling I can’t explain so add that to the list. A walk/ ride in the scooter through the beltline, A hawks game with tickets in the double letters. seating. Them seats so nice they come with free drinks and food.. toss in some rest time, brunch at Boogaloo, and a visit to the skating rink, and we have ourselves a pretty solid week to say the least.. This gives us some sort of plan but leaves plenty room for more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely have to thank God! Without him leading, and directing me day by day year by year, I could never have made it to where I am today.. the love of my family cannot go on mention big shut out to my mom, my sisters and my wife! thank you to the Pastor Vernon at the word church of Cleveland Ohio. Thank you to Richland correctional institution, Mansfield Ohio and thank you to FADEOLOGIST barbershop Lawrenceville, Georgia.. as many others who has helped me along the way, so this list is just not limited to these people.
