We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Anthony and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Music has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up around family members that are very talented vocally and musically. My Uncle, the late Michael Brown, is the son of the legendary Hank Ballard who was the lead singer of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters. Being surrounded by artistic and creative individuals made me want to enhance my talents and see where it can lead me. Plus, I’m an Aquarius and most Aquarius are usually full of ideas, creative, innovative, and very artistic

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an independent singer/songwriter and actor, I find it rewarding when I put my mind on accomplishing a project and I get to see it through from beginning to end. Having the control over my music, how I want it to sound, and the image I want to portray is very important to me because it proves that I can one day become someone that is looked at as a musical legend at some point in my life.

The challenge of being independent is making sure that I can financially support and promote my art and still being able to survive in my everyday life. This is not an easy business however it gives me a sense of accomplishment when I see the love and support from everyone.

Some of the lessons I’ve learned is that not everyone will be as passionate about you as you are about yourself. It’s important to not let the negative energy of others have you second guess what you are doing. Always be your authentic self and stay focused on your goals.

I want the world to know that dreams do come true as long as you never give up. Embrace who you are and what you can accomplish in life. I have had so many obstacles in my life that I thought would break me however, I trust and I believe in God and I know He will never leave nor forsake me

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta has so many wonderful attractions to see and visit. I would definitely take my best friend to tour the Black Hollywood Walk of Fame here in Atlanta, the High Museum of Art, MLK National Historic Park, Atlanta Beltline, Old Lady Gang Southern Cuisine, and most definitely take them to my church, Grace Baptist Church in Stockbridge. Pastor Clinton and Lady Tamara McFarland

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the loving memory of my Mother, Leeann Ervin, my Father Robert Barnes Sr,, my amazing children, Sherron, Michael, and Na’Tavia. My beautiful granddaughter Wynter, and all my loving supporters who have helped promote and push me to being the best artist I can be
