We had the good fortune of connecting with Regina Coley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Regina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
One morning, I remember going to work asking myself why I was still working for someone else instead of dedicating the time to building my dream. Entrepreneurship is risky and scary but necessary for the liberation I wanted to experience. I wanted to be the woman who could be there for family and experience the joy of fully utilizing my skillset through my own business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

While also serving as an educator, I saw the need for more books, educational products, and services that met the needs of young women and girls and founded MotivatHER Inc. That was the alias that I wanted to go by and represent myself as a motivational speaker to women and girls. We wear so many hats and titles and carry so many emotions. I feel we are a population that constantly needs pouring into. Right now, this is my world. I partner with schools, parents, and teachers in any state to help raise confident, unapologetic girls through programs and educational services. My goal is to one day start an all-girls school in Alabama similar to the one I had the privilege of attending for high school to serve more girls in a more individualized manner.

MotivatHER Inc. is a personal development and full-service education company that trains driven women and girls with the clarity, courage, and confidence to empower themselves and others, excel in education and lead in life. Through intentional and inspirational programming, we aim to maximize knowledge as power!

The road was not smooth! I initially had no idea what I was doing, but I felt I had been trained for this moment for years as I had the privilege of attending entrepreneurship programs all throughout my childhood. Initially, I was doing everything by myself, and it felt extremely isolated and lonely. However, I still felt called to continue working on the vision that I knew existed and was needed in the community. Over the years, I have developed myself as a leader by participating in leadership programs like the Highly Diverse Leadership Program offered by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, Leadership Montgomery, and obtaining a Master’s in Business Administration. I genuinely believe that learning from others and continually investing in personal and professional development has served me well. It allows me to continue to grow into a better leader and human.

I really hope that MotivatHER Inc. can eventually become a household name. I want to build a brand that grows with girls. I want young women to remember us as a brand that supported them when they were five, right through to graduating from college. I’m not sure that there’s a family-style brand with that kind of lifetime focus — something that women and girls can find value from and benefit from throughout their lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite places to eat are True Food Kitchen. It’s a vegan restaurant, and the food is fresh, healthy, and DELICIOUS!! I enjoy hanging out at Main Event with the family to play games and enjoy some downtime. If I need a moment to myself, I love Cafe Intermezzo and walking around the Container Store to get my life more organized.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family for being the catalyst I needed to commit to change.
