We had the good fortune of connecting with Reckless Richiee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Reckless, how do you think about risk?
In my career risk taking is the most important factor . Reason being is because I learned quickly risk make you rich . Risk taking to me is honestly believing in yourself/your craft . In this world someone can only tell you yes or no but you will never know the answer unless you take the risk ! I personally put it all on the line every time I put words on a beat because the beat is already fire but now it’s up to me to make it even better !
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For those who aren’t familiar with my face or work , allow me to introduce myself . I am Cameron Sandimanie professionally known as RECKLESSRICHIEE. I was born February 15, 1997 in Atlanta, GA. I come from a musical background with my father being I-20 of Ludacris’ Disturbing Tha Peace label and my younger brother is DestroyLonely of Playboi Carti’s Opium label . I’ve been told I am the person who has a chance to change the music scene forever with my uptempo ,melodic vocals that give a mix of old school and new school . I feel I differ from other artist because other artist compete for what’s hot whereas I compete with whatever the last song I recorded was . Over the years I have experienced little success but never to a point of being a “Breakout” artist . It kind of discouraged me because I knew I was/am better than some main steam artist but I also lacked any knowledge of where to start besides recording a song. Over this journey I’ve learned the basics to audio production as well as graphic design noticing I make all my covers as well as record all my own vocals . It took patience, ALOT of patience but I learned if this is what you want in life , nothing will stop you from getting it as long as your putting your best foot forth. Over time alot of friendships and relationships have deterred from the mini success of my career , but I always explain to people I don’t see it as a lost, but more as you just maybe weren’t supposed to be part of my journey or you were a stepping stone in this journey. Out of my career I want nothing but success and great memories. The memories I make with family is important and the impact I make on my fans is just as important ! With my little brothers recent success it has given me the drive I’ve been missing to actually pursue my dream full fledge and I thank him for that as much as I can . A lot of people on the outside speculate I would be mad because my brother surpassed me but in all honesty if he didn’t , there would be no RECKLESSRICHIEE. I’m now at a point in my career where it’s all starting to pick up from fans , to interviews , to producers wanting me to rap on their beats and it’s all just a humbling experience. With Gods will, I’ll be a household name sooner than soon. Thank you all who support me through my journey to more success and know this is all because of you .
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place in the anybody’s city is definitely going to be Dave and Busters . As a kid , I kind of had to grow up faster than others so I didn’t have much time to play , so as an adult I take that time to make up for lost times . Food wise , I’m going with Mr Everything’s . I’m Liberian , so growing up my grandparents gave us full plates of different Liberian dishes and to me, Mr Everything’s is like the American version. But my all time favorite restaurant is Smokey Bones . My mom is from Chattanooga, Tennessee so bbq to us is like Sunday dinner to you .
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout-out my entire family because they keep me whole as a person and everyone plays a role in my success today and I want to personally take the time and thank everyone . My mother pushed me to be the best version of myself , my brother and father’s success made me crave my journey more and everyone else played apart making sure I was always being guided on the right path .
