We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Novak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, how do you think about risk?
I believe risk is the doorway to growth. I acknowledge life/career risks, but it doesn’t scare me because my faith in God is stronger. The Holy Spirit sharpens my intuition, so I know if a risk is for my good or to run the other way. I took on major risks for my acting career by moving to Atlanta from Wisconsin right out of high school. The blessed part of my transition was signing with an agent, auditioning for the Southeast market, and attending acting classes within the first six months. There were definitely some low times where I found myself buried in self doubt, but that’s only because the risks were scaring me into backing out. However, my perseverance is greater than my fear. I’m the kind of person that embraces the opportunity for growth, and if risks will get me to where I want to be, that’s fine by me!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
God placed a desire on my heart to act at a very young age. I grew up doing theatre productions and booked some modeling gigs in high school before I moved to the Atlanta market while pursuing my Bachelors in Theatre. I have so much trust in Jesus that my dreams feel obtainable, and I know He will work out all things for my good. I’ve made mistakes and will continue to do so, but no matter what happens I can’t imagine doing anything else. Giving up is not an option! I am proud of maintaining a competitive 10% booking ratio two years in a row. I’m excited about sharing my light and love for God in projects that need it most. The journey to professionally get to where I am today was not easy. The biggest lesson recently has been to trust my intuition wholeheartedly. This has lead to cutting ties with unhealthy people, turning down auditions that don’t serve me, and standing up for my needs while working on set. I want the world to know that you are loved by the most high God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want my testimony to speak for itself, even when I interact with people who may not believe. There is no denying that I have a higher calling within me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Early in the week we would take the MARTA to downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic park. We would have dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and sing karaoke for a chance to win two tickets to see Queen & Adam Lambert at the Infinite Energy Center. We ended up winning (true story) and the concert was later that week! The next day I would take them to the Georgia Aquarium. Since she lives up north, she doesn’t have a lot of Chick Fil A’s around her, so we’ll have to eat there for lunch. I would also love to walk around the ATL Belt line with her and take some pictures of the skyline. Overall my goal of showing a friend around isn’t to hit every single popular spot, but to give her a taste of what my new life is like in Atlanta since I moved! I would introduce her to my friends I met at school, and give her lots of time to cuddle with my new cat I adopted in 2018. I love and appreciate when friends come to visit, so I would make sure it’s a great time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I would like to thank my agent, Lora Vinson, with Classic Talent Agency for being one of the first people to believe in me when I first moved to Atlanta. It’s been a pleasure working with you! I would also like to thank my community at Excel Church. I have found a church family like no other, and I love doing life and learning about the Kingdom of God with these wonderful people! Finally, my coach/friend Heidi Forrest, for pursuing her dream of becoming a fitness coach and bringing me into the PowerFemme fitness community. I am now more physically, mentally, and spiritually confident because of the supporters in my corner. Thank you so much!
