We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the success of my brand comes from setting up my business plans and conquering them within the beauty industry working for about a decade now. Being able to study the greats and learn what works, adjusting to the ever changing techniques in my industry, continually remaining resilient through the curveballs life throws on the journey to success, and remaining focused on the end goal! Without goals, we become somewhat lost on a uncertain path and may find ourselves wasting time. A huge factor to the success of any brand is networking within your industry and setting yourself apart customizing your brand to your own unique style! Some will love it, others won’t but eventually they may come around!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a professional Global Cosmetologist and Makeup Artist turned Beauty Expert Entrepreneur starting my own luxury handmade cosmetics and skincare line! I believe my business is different from many because I’ve put in many years into working as an Artist and studied the industry as well as worked in many cosmedic luxury brands to know what people need! Every product I’ve created in my beauty line The Dollyhouse, serves a purpose for simplifying women’s everyday routine for getting dolled up! I started the business in January of this year so maneuvering through this pandemic has been quite difficult but I’ve been focused on different techniques to really captivate my clientele with my products that I know will benefit their everyday life!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a military spouse, I’m currently living overseas in the south of Spain for a couple of years and the lifestyle here is so relaxed and simple so a week-long with some friends would be just enough time to enjoy this historical and exciting beach town! We would start the day off having cafe con leche and mollete with sobrasada, a chorizo paste on The Cove of Puerto Sherry which is a beautiful beach lookout of the Bay of Cadiz! After we would walk around the boutiques by the beaches and show them some fashionable Spanish shops! For lunch we would grab tapas and a delicious meal consisting of paella, tortilla de camarones, and a bull stew with vegetables! Spanish delight in “siesta” which is an afternoon nap where most shops and restaurants are closed between 2-5 so in that time we could rest and re-energize for the evenings activities or visit a historical Roman ruins close by. For dinner, I would love to bring some friends by the chiringuitos (beach bar) on the water with some delicious fried fish platters, calamari, and some amazing Thai food with strawberry mojitos watching the sunset! We could end the night doing the “crawl” which is bar hopping down the small beach town of Rota with lots or bars and clubs featuring amazing music, delicious drinks, and an exciting atmosphere!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest success is credited mainly to my parents being the entrepreneurs that they are! Majority of my childhood my Father ran his own music and video production company and my Mother was his marketing manager along with running her own magazines so together they created this empire of joining their passions together to create history successfully doing what they love providing the ultimate life for myself and my family. Watching their every move as a kid and continually receiving business ideas and encouragement as an adult, I have no excuse to not be great! My husband Darius Davis also deserves so much credit continuously motivating me and encouraging me to keep pushing within this saturated market and ever changing times because of my gift. I come from such a small tiny Pacific island of Guam that making it big in this world is an ultimate dream to impact the lives of many doing what I love and sprinkle my dollygirl magic globally!
