We had the good fortune of connecting with Quincy Duckworth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quincy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My journey to launching AMGA ATHLETICS was deeply rooted in three core motivations. Firstly, driven by a desire for financial independence, I envisioned a platform where fitness, health, and wellness could converge seamlessly, offering not just products but a lifestyle that I could scale into health tech. Secondly, I saw entrepreneurship as a personal challenge—a chance to push himself as a leader, to innovate, and to inspire others to do the same. Lastly, I felt compelled to be a part of the cultural shift in business, both domestically and globally, embracing the evolving landscape of commerce in the new millennium. Help redefined what it means to be an underrepresented community in the global commerce space especially in health, not to mention tech.

My journey wasn’t solely shaped by entrepreneurial aspirations; it was deeply influenced by my upbringing. Watching my mother struggle to raise two boys and make ends meet fueled me. I watched my mother courageously establish a floral shop ignited a profound sense of admiration and determination within him. Her unwavering work ethic and relentless pursuit of her dreams instilled in me a profound appreciation for hard work, resilience, and the power of dreaming big. I recall when certain holidays came around she would take me, my brother, and my cousin and drop us off on street corners to sell her custom floral bouquets. Or the fact when I was younger and my grade school had a candy sale and she willingly took us out daily to sell boxes of candy just to win a tub tv. It was moments like that, a nurturing environment that ultimately paved the way for me to embark on my own entrepreneurial path, driven by a caring and admirable spirit to be my best self and follow my dreams. One thing she told me to do is Dream Big.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey to where I am today has been far from easy. Like any entrepreneur, I faced numerous challenges along the way, from financial hurdles to navigating life’s competitive landscape. However, I’ve learned that resilience and determination are key.

Reaching this point has been an ongoing struggle. Understanding that life is about the journey is easier said than done. Throughout my life, I’ve had to fight and pivot, but each challenge opened my eyes. I’ve grown to see life for what it is, rather than what it isn’t. Establishing myself wasn’t easy, but I was determined to succeed despite the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.

One of my early jobs was at Men’s Wearhouse, a men’s clothing store. Working there after high school, first as a customer service rep, then moving into sales over a five-year period, shaped me and allowed me to meet amazing people. As a men’s suit salesperson, I learned the art of selling, realizing that it requires listening intently and communicating clearly. These skills have been invaluable throughout my professional journey.

I’ve learned many lessons, such as dealing with objections, rejection, and successes. Understanding that rejection is a learning opportunity, regardless of the outcome, is crucial. Learning from each experience is essential for success. I adopted the habit of asking myself what I learned after every encounter, a skill I carried into my role as a Lead Project Manager and Entrepreneur. Dealing with objections not only strengthened my communication and problem-solving skills but also aided in personal growth by teaching me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of perseverance in the face of challenges.

As a thought leader who enjoys problem-solving, I want the world to know that AMGA ATHLETICS is committed to holistic wellness and innovation. We’re more than a product seller; we’re a community that prioritizes health and fitness, leveraging cutting-edge technology. Our dedication to quality, innovation, and style sets us apart, offering performance-driven activewear and premium supplements. We’re here to inspire and empower individuals to lead healthier, happier lives and make a positive impact on the world. Our story is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose, and we’re excited to share it with our community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friends were visiting, I’d craft an itinerary highlighting the tale of two cities: Seattle and Tacoma.

We’d kick off in Tacoma, embracing its blue-collar charm. Brunch would be at a black-owned gem, famed for its mouthwatering Southern cuisine in the Hilltop neighborhood. Then, we’d visit the Museum of Glass, marveling at stunning art installations, including the iconic Chihuly Bridge of Glass. Lunch by the waterfront at Point Ruston would follow. Exploring Point Defiance Park would fill our afternoon with strolls through gardens, zoo visits, or scenic hikes. Evening plans? Dinner at Wooden City or Cuervo Bravo Steakhouse before diving into downtown Tacoma’s vibrant nightlife or trendy bars on 6th Ave.

Next stop: Seattle, where dining options abound. Depending on cravings, I’d suggest Island Soul Restaurant or Jerk Shack, or classic fish and chips at the waterfront. Brunch spots like Geraldine’s Counter or Marination in Columbia City would kickstart our day. Pike Place Market exploration would precede an evening vibe check at Communion in the Central District or Muse Lounge for a classy ambiance. Then off to Capitol Hill for dancing. Catching a game at either CenturyLink or T-Mobile Park would depend on the season. Finally, a Sunday funday brunch party hosted by Laidback Allure would wrap up the weekend with style.

Not forgetting weekend parties and restaurant scenes in Bellevue, a weekend in Seattle promises events aplenty—from brunch vibes to parties and hookah lounges for those inclined. Seattle, Bellevue, and Tacoma can host an extravagant weekend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
