We had the good fortune of connecting with Prince Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Prince, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is all apart of the journey. It’s what actually make the journey so unique because its truly that of your own. You just can’t possibly expect to see or experience any real type of success without taking a risk. Risks are so necessary in life. For me taking risks is what my entire life have always been about. I’ve failed and I’ve succeeded at some. Risks challenge your growth as a person. That risky idea came to you for a reason, far more greater then you ever can imagine. More importantly I believe that its God’s little message to you that your on the right track. “Now the reality is, sometimes you lose. Your never too good to lose, your never too big to lose, your never too smart to lose. It happens when it needs to happen. You just have to embrace those moments.” – Beyonce I remember the conversation like it was yesterday when I told both of my parents that I was packing up and heading to Atlanta. Both of them was so concerned. I remember my Father saying to me “Son there aren’t jobs in Atlanta so why are you heading to Atlanta?” My response was “Dad I’m not going to Atlanta to work… I’m going to fulfill my dreams and if I stay here (Maryland) I would never amount to much.” So I literally left everything that I owned at the time behind in my parents garage and came to Atlanta with a duffle and suitcase. I had less then $150 in my pocket. Fast forward almost 7 years later I am working with everyone in Black Hollywood. Interviewing countless of celebrities on my very own platform that I’ve built with my amazing team. Anything is truly possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta clearly is the new Hollywood of the south. So be ready to see a ton of celebrities. Our version of Rodeo Drive which we call Buckhead Village District. Just make sure you have the coins to spend. Now I’m a huge fan of catfish. There’s this really cute and quaint restaurant that serves fried catfish taco’s with fresh coleslaw and a side of some of the most golden crispy fries. Oh and I cannot forget about the Lime Margarita’s. They are to die for. As we all know Atlanta became the epicenter for the movement as black leaders fought for voting rights, access to public facilities and institutions, and economic and educational opportunities for African Americans. So you cannot come to Atlanta without visiting the King Center. It is so much history on Auburn Ave. So one of my favorite things to do at night is to cruise the city and view all of the tall buildings and enjoy the city lights. It just makes me feel like the world is truly my oyster. So if you truly want to take a view of the entire city at night I would encourage you to take a trip to the Ferris Wheel Downtown Atlanta at Olympic Park. The views are absolutely breath taking.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes out to all of the Black Women all over the world. When I think of amazing Black Women I think of my Mother, both of my Grandmother’s (Gloria & Sadie), my Great-Grandmother, my auntie “Decia”, my two lovely sisters, my bonus Mother & of course my Manager “LaShaunda”. All whom represents love & true strength. When I think Honorable Black Women in the Entertainment World I think of my favorite Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama & Angela Bassett. Malcolm X once stated “The most disrespected person in America is the Black Woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black Woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black Woman.” I challenged this narrative and say “The celebrated person in America is the Black Woman. We here you we see you we adore you.
