We had the good fortune of connecting with Photogenic Jae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Photogenic, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I want to be the boss. I am the boss. Im bigger than what I can see already.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from the others in this beauty industry is my work is clean and neat. I work hard to make sure I have products that accommodate all types of hair and cultures. I am most proud of my growth and excited about how much I’m growing even more. I got where I am by staying consistent and trusting god. He is always there through anything. It wasn’t always easy. Its always trials and tribulations. Ive had some really challenging times, mentally, financially , and physically but I always push through. I over came challenges by not giving up, always looking for other positive outcomes. There’s always another way and you can always learn something no matter how old you get. Taking classes on things you aren’t mastered at is important. Learning and being consistent makes you stronger and more skilled. Ive learned everyone isn’t going to like you or trust you with their hair and that’s ok. You may not be the stylist for them and thats okay too. My logo is a lion with a long mane which represents the strong healthy hair that I promote. Taming the clients mane is my purpose and doing in the comfort of the barber shop; my personal cage is th e story behind my name and logo. That’s where Manetaming Hair Cage comes from.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom “Big Ap” my baby’s GiGi is a big part of my growth. Anything I’ve ever showed interest in she has always gave me the necessary tools to succeed or get started. She might not know formal but she sees something she contributes to my growth, motivates me, and try her best to help me be the most successful.
