We had the good fortune of connecting with Phillip Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phillip, what do you attribute your success to?
God. Trusting myself and my intuition. This past year, I’ve gotten so close to myself and learned that it’s truly okay to be selfish with my energy. Everybody doesn’t deserve to get access to that. God gives me my ideas, inspiration and my next steps. Without my creator, I am nothing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been preparing for this moment for as long as I can remember. Every little step has brought me here and It didn’t make sense until I got into being an artist and realized God had been preparing me all along. I started off singing in church at Sixth Street Peace Baptist then I started at my middle school which really was just to be with my friends at first. However with my teacher Mrs. Connie Cotton, I grew to love singing and music. Fast Forward teenage years I was on a virtual game called IMVU as an artist doing tours, music videos(editing them myself at 12-13 on Sony Vegas Pro which i had got for free somehow hehe) and at the time my mom nor me understood why I was so consumed with this game yet it prepared me in a way to edit all of my content now that truly sets me apart from others. I know what I want before I get started on any project. I see the look, the hair, all of it before and that’s how I know it’s right. Details are very important as well as doing things in a way that is authentic to your inner self. I am ready to bring back that true superstar energy back to the world. In the 90’s and early 2000’s the artist I looked up too just had such an aura about them that seemed unreal and almost magical. But anyway, check out my EP “Need Each Other(Deluxe)” for the full story!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to get some good wings and cajun ranch fries from Oh Yes Wings on the west side. Then i’d go to the top of city to see the view and chill and maybe roll a few. I’m pretty laid back in my personal life and it doesn’t take much to truly get me satisfied, being at home is my favorite honestly.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There isn’t one person for me. Just like it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to create a star. Without the people who help me , uplift me, inspire me, I wouldn’t have gotten to this point i’m sure of it. From my mom and aunt making me the man I am today, to Alexis who inspires me to Ashley who does my hair weekly to keep me looking my best and will hop on any background vocals I need. My friends are my family. Shoutout to Mariah, Naya, Jess, Ari, and thank you to Cece for bringing this opportunity to me!
