We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter E Dawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Peter E, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor in my life is God. I was taught at an early age that when you start with God in your life and he remains in you, then everything is possible with God in your life, and you will achieve success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started like most kids, playing sports and dabbling in the arts to see what would be the best fit for me. My mother was informed that a few of my classmates were signed with a talent agency and asked for information. My brother and I met with the Agent, got headshots, and two weeks later, I was filming a movie with some very talented actors. I was a child actor doing mostly background and some under-5 roles. I left the business just before high school to concentrate on studies. After high school, college, and a career in the banking industry, my mother asked me if I was happy. I told her I wasn’t, and she mentioned that I should return to what makes me happy. I returned to acting in 2007, but it wasn’t easy. I was homeless at times and working odd jobs to make ends meet, to sleeping on friend’s sofa, but God was always with me and kept me safe. I learned that when you focus on God, he gives you the power to do anything. I learned that if I’m dealing with issues in my life, I put my focus on helping someone else, and when I do that, then God sees that and will bless me in his timing. I want the world to know that when you see me on television/film or your favorite commercial, God can make all dreams come true if you trust him.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend from college came here for a week. I would take him to Krog Street Market for Indian food (Jai Ho Indian Kitchen) or maybe a hearty sandwich from Fred’s Meat & Bread or some Tex-Mex from Superica. We could also swing by The Battery to see if anything is happening. I would also go to Piedmont Park to just chill and people-watch. But it will also depend on the season and what events are happening around town, but there is always something to do in Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother is the one who saw something in me and encouraged me to pursue my acting career. My wife, Monica, also encouraged me when my mother passed away to make sure that I stayed on course, and I love her for all that she does for me.
