We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patrick, how do you think about risk?
Risk has been one of the most important parts of my career! From my first major risk of leading my family moving from Jacksonville,Fl to Atlanta to pursue Acting, financial risks in spending the last $80 in my bank account to go and audition for POWER (and book the role), to the best risk and moving to Los Angeles to continue to pursue this dream! I am a firm believer in God so to me it is less risk, but more faith. Faith requires you to go places you’ve never gone and that is where true creativity and liberation lies in uncharted territory. It’s a testament to how much you believe in what you were created to do.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This journey has not been easy, but I have been highly favored. I would want the world to know that where I came from creativity was not praised or appreciated. Being an artist in any form was not something that was acknowledged nor taught, there was really one goal and that was to survive. After survival came education, and that was that. I did a Church play when I was in fifth grade and it unknowingly dropped the seed of acting. When I graduated high school I realized that I didn’t have much to turn to so I decided to move and pursue this wild profession. I think that was separates me from others is my willingness to be vulnerable and free….. And I just work harder than everybody else. If there is no door to get in, I would cave in the roof.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As I mentioned I work hard…..TOO HARD. So I would take them to the Hollywood walk of fame and Santa Monica Pier and say “Welp, your on your own.” as we proceed to the nearest movie theater.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout out will be dedicated to my Mother Nicole Micheau she just graduated with her DOCTORATE DEGREE and I am so proud of her! Watching her be a mother of five, wife, and relentless worker from birth has instilled in me the importance of hard work and kind Leadership. She never had to preach the idea of “late nights and early mornings” because she was a living example and that is what my life has become and a concrete part of my success. She is Greatness!
