Meet Patricia Chourio: Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Chourio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patricia, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Kindness and people coming together to support each other makes me happy. When it comes to my business, happiness comes from connecting with our artisan partners and learning from them. Their stories inspire me and motivate me to keep going. The best part of it is being able to share those stories with our customers and seeing their reactions when they find out the positive impact of their purchase.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I wear many hats, I work full time as a content and social media specialist for a great company based in Atlanta, GA. I teach ESL online part-time to professional adults and I’m also the founder of The World’s Corner, a social enterprise supporting women artisans around the world. In my spare time, I enjoy doing photography and traveling. My experience working and living in SE Asia for more than 2 years, led me to my career today. I’ve always loved traveling and I’ve been very lucky to have the opportunity to explore and visit many countries. I knew I wanted a career where I could combined all the things that I’m passionate about. It hasn’t been easy, I’ve been lonely a lot, I’ve dealt with heartbreak, financial difficulties, etc. However, it has all been worthy and all these experiences, no matter how difficult, have shaped me into the woman I am today.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the Atlanta Beltline so anytime I have visitors, I always take them there for a walk, it’s also a great place to take photos and enjoy local art. I will then take them to Ponce City Market for a little shopping and some King of Pops cocktails. Dinner at Patria Cocina in Grant Park or Arepa Mia for some Venezuelan arepas. I love coffee so definitely a visit to Refuge Coffee in Clarkston or some bubble tea at Honey Bubble near PCM. Atlanta is great for brunch spots and one of my favorites is Sun in My Belly in Kirkwood. As far as activities to do in the city, the High Museum is one of my favorites to visit and they always have a great event going on.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Many people have helped me get where I am right now. My mom is one of them, she’s a great source of inspiration to me, she’s been there cheering me on from the beginning of this journey as an entrepreneur. She’s been with me at every market, helped pack and ship products, sold products, promoted our mission and so much more. She’s always supported me and motivated me even when I feel like giving up. I’ve also had great friends who have also supported me in different ways, either by purchasing our products, visiting us at our markets and bringing us coffee, modeling for our product photos, and even proofreading our articles. They have no idea what their support means to me, as a female solopreneur it’s important to have a support system and people who are willing to help you and advice you every step of the way. I’m lucky to have them in my life!
