We had the good fortune of connecting with Party PLANit Event Planning Services and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Party PLANit, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We’ve always been the “Unofficial Party Planners” amongst our family, friends, and colleagues. Our home being a place where everyone felt welcomed and was the location you associated with enjoying some of the best laughs, amazing company and atmosphere, and tastiest food and drinks. So when a close relative got engaged, she reached out to us to help plan her a fairy tale wedding. Of course we “pulled out all the stops” and executed not only a phenomenal wedding, but many cherished memories for the bride who finally got to say (at the ‘tender age’ of 57 years young) ​that this was the first time in her life where she felt special… where she felt like a princess.

After that, several people engaged her asking, “​Who is your wedding planner? Can I get their information?” It was at that point where we sat down and asked ourselves “Are we going to do this? Start an Event Planning business?”​. Her wedding really was an eye-opener as we learned many people are in need of assistance to help them execute a variety of events. For us, hosting events has always come naturally, and has been something we thoroughly enjoy. Having the opportunity to Take the load off an overwhelmed Bride-to-Be or WOW the guests at a milestone birthday party/sweet 16/or Quinceanera, or throwing a company holiday mixer that has even the most skeptic in the office enjoying themselves away from work for the evening… that is what this is all about for us. That’s where the love is.

Party PLANit is an Event Planning business that offers a variety of services: -Event Planning – Weddings, Birthdays, Holiday Parties, Graduation Parties, Themed events, Family Reunions, School Dances and Proms, etc.
-Event Rentals – Photo Booths, Throne Chairs, Champagne Walls, Uplighting, Jumbo Letters/Sweetheart tables, etc
-Decor, Execution, and Management – From designing a​nd decorating your event, to offering Day of Coordination Services, Vendor procurement and management – we can assist with any aspect of your event.

One thing about this business is flexibility. Every event is different because every client is different. Every client is unique. And at Party PLANit, we make sure that anyone who takes the time out of their day to speak with us, knows how much we value that time, their choice, and ensure they walk away feeling “seen” – not like just another number.

We’ve learned an enormous amount of lessons along the way, most of which have aided in personal and professional growth for us as a company. And are grateful for the lesson each experience brings

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow what an interesting question. Atlanta is such an eclectic melting pot that it truly does depend on the personality of the friend.

A day getting lost in Atlantic​Station is always on the agenda, great eats, amazing movie theater, letting your inner 5-year-old pick out pounds and pounds of sweets in IT’SUGAR, and relaxing in a comfy chair in the park area.

Next taking a stroll around The Battery which is almost a city onto itself. Not just for the sports fanatic, but a great day out enjoying grub and suds.

We’re California natives so often a friend visiting from the SF Bay Area will enjoy the ambiance of Little Five Points. Eclectic shopping, vinyl record stores, and of course snapping a photo out front of The Vortex’s iconic entrance.

And personally, I just love the electric feel of Atlanta evenings driving windows down or convertible top down starting at Piedmont Park, and taking that drive slowly at dusk all the way down to the CNN center. Driving past the sights like the Margaret Mitchell house, people watching outside of the patio seated restaurants on Peachtree, pass the bright lights of the Fox Theater, Pointing out Atlanta beauty and uniqueness like the lights atop of the Plaza building, World of Coke, the Aquarium and Olympic Park.

What an amazing town – how can you not LOVE living here?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So we are a Mother/Daughter Trio who are driven and motivated by our family which has always been our biggest support system. Sheila (the mom and matriarch of our family) is an unbelievable role-model. She is a strong, driven, determined woman who still manages to be the most loving, compassionate, and selfless person you will ever know. She finds time to work a 9-5, manage an event planning business (which by definition also manages pivotal moments in so many other peoples lives), and she also has a long list of philanthropic organizations and projects she takes on as well. As one of her daughters, I vividly recall looking up to her as a child, watching her ‘work a room’ during a party and take the time to speak and address everyone as if they were the only person in the world. I remember thinking… I can’t wait to be her!

Sheila would tell you that she draws inspiration from her daughters.​She would say “My daughters are imaginative and creative women ​and have always had a way of seeing the world and saying – I’m going to get that! I’m going for it. There would not be a Party PLANit without their ambition and creativity.​”
