We had the good fortune of connecting with PankyRang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi PankyRang, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by my mother who is also a singer/songwriter. growing up my mother use to walk around the house singing different songs & she would always add her own twist to them to make them her own. That alone inspired me to make the music that I listened to my own, which turned into me writing my own verses to songs that were already on the radio at the time.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a singer/songwriter from Montgomery, Al & I represent The Elite Ones. Only the best of the best comes from my pen & I stand on that. The road I’ve traveled to get where I am today was most definitely rough, there’s not a lot of opportunity in music where i come from. But when one presents itself we go hard for it, it’s almost like the gatekeepers are afraid to recruit talent here but it’s definitely here. The doors for Alabama are opening slowly but surely so all we can do is be ready when our names are called. The fact that I go against the grain & take more of an edgier approach to my songwriting is what sets me apart from anyone in my field. I’m the direct truth, that’s it, that’s all…. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my brother & producer Beat Champ, I can honestly say me and him have watched & helped each other go thru some of the toughest moments. We were both able to rise above our situations & bring some of the best music we’ve ever created out of our pain. His musical expertise is an inspiration to me and many other creators so major salute to him for sure. I’d also like to shout out GOD, I appreciate this extraordinary talent that was given to me, it made me into one hell of a guy. Thanks Big G
