We had the good fortune of connecting with Pacita Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pacita, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Interior design has always been a passion of mine since I was a young girl. I learned to love the industry from my father who was an architect and builder in Florida. I remember one day in particular my mother and I were visiting a local showroom in Merritt Island, and I said to my mother “one day I want to own a space like this and help others turn their house into a home.” My mom responded, “I believe you can do it!” In 1997, I decided to take a risk and chase my dreams. I opened both a retail and showroom location called Pacita’s Home Collections. The decision to open a place of my own sparked while I was building and designing my own home at the time. My team included four full-time and two part-time employees who contributed to the success of the business. We designed homes throughout the Brevard County area, and this is where I started the service of turn-key living. After many years, my family and I relocated to Woodstock, Georgia to set out to bring what I learned during my time in Florida. Wanting to bring turn-key living to Georgia, I founded Pineapple Park. Many ask me where the name Pineapple Park comes from. The name originated from the street in which I grew up called Park Avenue. I wanted to incorporate something from my first business and Park Avenue. The reason this street is so significant to my life is because this was the last house that my father built and designed, and here was the start of Pineapple Park! I’m so incredibly grateful and blessed for what Pineapple Park has grown to be. We started the company on September 3, 2010, in honor of my mother-in-law’s birthday, as a retail shop. Today, our location sits in a 15,000 square foot warehouse that serves as both a retail space and showroom floor. Over the past 11 years, we have had the opportunity to bring the concept of turn-key living to clients all across the country. We are so thankful to be able to be a part of so many amazing projects including the Clarity Farm Showcase Home, Cartersville Country Club, and many more! If I could give one piece of advice for anyone who is wanting to start a business it would be to just start! When starting a company, it is impossible to have everything figured out before starting. I suggest starting and learning along the way. If you have an idea and you are passionate about it, you can do anything with drive, compassion, and support!

The industry of interior design continues to evolve every single day. I believe one area where Pineapple Park continues to grow is how we maintain to stay ahead of the curve. One way that we stay ahead of the curve is by studying trends, and travel has been one way we do this. I love to travel to see a variety of styles from Dallas to High Point Market to even Paris and India. I love to see different styles, what consumers are drawing towards, and learning ways to stay unique and fresh. In addition, I believe our service of turn-key living is a unique factor that many do not know much about. Turn-key living is where our team of 10-12 of us decorate, accessorize, and transform your house into your home in just one day. One way I continue to challenge myself and others is to never stop learning. No matter your age you should always continue to learn and see new, fresh ideas. With this going back to what I said earlier, traveling is one important way to learn new ideas in the industry. At Pineapple Park, we love to travel. We help clients all across the country!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question! Entertaining is always something I’ve loved to do! Many people don’t know that I’m a huge foodie. I gained a love for great food because my mom owned a restaurant, and I love the way food can truly connect so many people! A couple of my staples in the area are Prime 120, Houston’s, Gameday Fresh Grill, and Ipp’s Pasteria. A few areas that are great for entertaining are Downtown Woodstock, Avalon in Downtown Alpharetta, and Dahlonega for everything outdoors! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my family. My family has always supported me unconditionally throughout my entire journey! Without the support and push from my family, I wouldn’t be where I am today! They have been the support system I needed to pursue my dream. I thank all of them for pushing me daily!
