Meet Nkechi (Chi) Ndubuisi | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nkechi (Chi) Ndubuisi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nkechi (Chi), do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I would definitely say that providing a great experience for my clients, teaching clients what is behind the artistry, and always willing to prepare myself for the unknown in case I am needing to pivot for whatever reason are indeed the top three habits that I have rendered when it comes to having success with my business thus far. These habits took time to be cultivated through various experiences that I have had in the past and needed to be cultivated in order for me to be able to learn clients better and for me to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a solid artist.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel that I am most proud of how far I have come as not just an artist, but as a person on this journey called life. I remember when I was so shy and almost timid about my artistry because the confidence I needed had yet to be built. I was relying on outside factors instead of looking within myself and knowing that I was fully capable of doing whatever is that I wanted to achieve. Just like in any type of journey in life, a person will have their challenges and have certain experiences to where it might cause them to stumble a bit or take a step back to assess situations better. Those past challenges have been my building blocks in learning and I am appreciative of them. A motto that I always say is that I aspire to inspire, meaning just that. I want to be an inspiration to people who I come across in life in letting them know that there is always light and power within oneself that needs to be tapped into to understand their greatness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d ensure that I’m tapping into the type of things that they like to do, as well as trying something new whether that’d be going to a different kind of restaurant that they’re not used to or a different type of activity that they would find intriguing. I make sure that I seek for a great establishment with great reviews and in my eyes, it is normally the hidden gems around the city that my heart, or stomach in this matter, gravitates to. One of my favorite places to visit in the city is Folk Art in the Inman Park area. It’s cozy, out of the way and brings a lot of nostalgia about the city of Atlanta and the state as a whole. A great activity that I love in the metro Atlanta area is visiting Vickery Creek Trail. In my opinion, it’s one of the best places to get your daily miles in and to clear your mind as I find a good bit of serenity every time I go.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my Shoutout to my twin and little brother Casey, who is now my guardian angel. He has aided in my growth over the years in SO many ways and helped me to rediscover who I am as a person and I am beyond grateful of that. I would also love to recognize my close family and friends who support and believe in me and my journey, as I am so appreciative of them in doing so.
