We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite affirmation is the scripture Nehemiah 8:10….”The JOY of the Lord is your strength.” Over the past decade, I have had several trials that seemed too tough to handle. When I thought about throwing in the towel or waiving the white flag in surrender, the scripture kept me going. The scripture reminds me that life may be difficult, but the Lord is always on my side. The Lord gives me the strength to endure whatever comes. I may not be happy about it because happiness is conditional. But I WILL have JOY because it is unconditional. JOY comes from the Lord!!!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently both a Public Middle School Teacher and an Entrepreneur.

I previously was employed for 20 years by a Fortune 200 Financial Corporation where I rose from entry level right out of college to becoming a corporate executive. My years in Corporate America provided me with the skills to run a successful business. But more importantly the experience showed me why people were not successful. One of those reasons is due to the lack of preparation in students coming from the public school system. So it has been my desire to provide every student with the soft skills (communication, critical thinking, problem solving, integrity, initiative, etc,) that will enable them to succeed in the career that best match their personality & interests.

As an entrepreneur I am blessed to marry my spiritual gifts with the ability to provide for my household. Through Establishing J.O.Y. LLC, I am able to share my passion of speaking and teaching with individuals who are experiencing trials that seem to hard to bare. I provide workshops, courses, seminars and books on having true JOY regardless of the situations we encounter.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would recommend that my friend take the Midnight Train to GA. Then once she arrives, we would grab breakfast at the Atlanta Breakfast Club. My friend loves a hearty meal and the chicken biscuit with shrimp gravy will have her singing ATL praises. During the weeklong trip we would carve out time to visit the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial and the World of Coca Cola. We are both amusement park lovers so we would go to Six Flags and round out the trip with a peaceful walk through the Atlanta Zoo. But wait, as we are getting older, we would be remised if we didn’t have dinner at The Old Lady Gang.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must give recognition first to God for choosing me to serve His Kingdom and for allowing me to be born to two amazing parents. My mom and dad deserve credit for pouring love, encouragement, and support into my life during my formative years.
