We had the good fortune of connecting with Nevaeh Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nevaeh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a child, I’ve always been interested in anything revolving around the arts. My childhood rooms were filled with an endless amount of drawings and canvases and my mind was always fixated on art and dance. Fast Forward 18 years later, I was in my freshman year of high school, looking for ways to enhance and benefit from my skills. I’ve experimented with entrepreneurship in the past, but truly not tapping into my potential. With a lack of guidance in this realm, I never followed through with this thought. But, if God puts something on my mind, it’s for a reason. 4 years after that during my matriculation at my ILLUSTRIOUS Clark Atlanta University, Vaehdesignedit was born. I fell in love with graphic design after witnessing some of my favorite designers transform businesses into brands through what I already loved: bright colors, textures, and fonts. I began making promotional flyers for anybody I could then eventually went into making logos. I knew designing was something I genuinely enjoyed doing and wanted to turn this hustle into a business. I now have a range of clients in a multitude of industries, with me offering logo creation, flyer creation, rebranding services, website development, brand identity development, and product mock-up development. Although I am new to the entrepreneurship realm, there is nowhere I can go but up. An increase in knowledge, an increase in clientele, and an increase in sales.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a graphic design business, ‘Vaehdesignedit’- where I elevate brands and help them create visionary work. I’m a girl’s girl designer; I love girly, pink branding that showcases a woman’s brand. I am fresh in this industry but have gained a lot of experience and exposure through my clientele. It has not been easy- as I still have many business goals to achieve to be successful. I overcome the daily challenges of my business by trusting myself confiding and taking advice from other designers and truly giving my problems to God. He is the one that put me in the place to have a business and without him, I am nothing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Atlanta! Since I completed my Bachelor’s degree here, I’ve been to a variety of restaurants and ‘hot spots’ all over the city. One of my favorite ATL restaurants is ‘Sri Thai’ in Atlantic Station. If I want good drinks and brunch, Toast on Lenox is my go to! For down time or when I need a break, I love walking The Beltline. You can enjoy great food, enjoy nature, and even walk to Ponce City Market for more food and shopping options.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe all of my knowledge, poise, and confidence to even pursue anything in life to my hardworking parents. My mother has always encouraged me to “Aim for the stars” and push further than she ever has. Her motivation and life stories help me pride myself through all my experiences and obstacles. My father is immensely proud of everything I do. He encourages me to also do the “most” in life and to always believe because I am it. Without them, I wouldn’t be who am I today. They’ve always instilled in me to be my very best and to never settle for less.
