We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakeia Homer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakeia, what do you attribute your success to?
My personal story is at the center of my brand. The work I do in the world started with me first doing the work on myself. Telling the story and sharing the lessons and insights from the journey is what I am known for. I don’t just tell people what to do, I share the steps that I actually took.

Telling my story is the most important factor behind my success.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have been a creative entrepreneur for more than 20 years but the work I am doing now is a full-circle moment.

I didn’t set out to help others heal emotional exhaustion and trauma, I had no real goal to be an author, and I had no idea I’d be the architect and professor of an executive course at a leading university. I just wanted to heal myself and keep a promise I made to myself at 10 years old to break generational patterns. That work of healing myself positioned me to facilitate healing for others. I can effectively teach people how to turn pain into power, tests into testimonies, and opposition into opportunities through self-love, self-care, and self-healing because I did it. I get to share from a real place a knowing.

The biggest lesson for me, in every business I’ve owned, is that your personal brand matters. As a service-based business, people buy in based on who they perceive me to be. Showing up as the best version of myself, sharing the journey, being relatable, and allowing others in is vital. This is how I became an author. I shared some of the affirmations, prayers, and practices I was using to grieve and heal and they went viral. Millions of people shared “I pray you heal from things no one ever apologized for” and “You are not lazy unmotivated or stuck. After years of living your life in survival mode, you are exhausted. there’s a difference.” After hearing the impact of my words, I decided to publish my first book. Now, I’m on book three.

I’m just trying to make 10-year-old me proud.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my friend to Ponce City Market. We’d eat at Atrium. They have a Four Seasons everywhere but we would head there for a massage. I’m sure there would be some show at Buckhead theatre so we’d go there one evening. To be honest, though, I love hanging out at home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without the contribution of my beloved grandmom. She fostered me, mentored me, and supported me until she transitioned 2 years ago. I went full-time in my business in full dedication to her and her legacy of service to others.
