We had the good fortune of connecting with Najla Allamani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Najla, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I used to go to a lot of garage sales and thrift stores with my aunt growing up. I always thought looking at all the old retro items were neat.
As an adult once and a while I would drive by and see and antique store and walk through them just for fun.
One day I found a repurposed window frame turned into a mirror. I luved it and bought it and inspired me to want to repurpose other old items And therefore came up with the name Reclaimed Vintage.
A few years passed and I kind of put my hobby aside however had picked up a few antique books and jars from picking through or the stores that I had used as decoration on a shelf.
I got several compliments on it and got asked to put together a book set.
As I was in the antique store I started to google the books randomly and saw some at much higher prices online and sparked my interest to try to start reselling rare items I found at great prices
I always have had a love for designer fashion
Over the years it has stemmed in clothes and retro/vintage clothing as well .
I enjoy the range of items and people I meet and have inspired myself to turn My hobby into a business bringing Reclaimed Vintage where it is today buying and reselling furniture, oddities, vintage makeup and clothing, hosting consignment, estate sales and more in the works
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been an avid enthusiast of Antique and Vintage items for many years.
As a child I would get taken along to local garage sales and thrift stores and the older items always caught my attention.
Now, Living in Atlanta and being in the South, theres always some great finds and pieces.
I decided to start sharing my great finds with other Antique and Vintage lovers.
In the Fall of 2017, I turned my hobby into a business and in the Spring of 2020, I moved my collection fully online and expanded my business in the online world with Etsy.
I specialize in the sale of high-quality antique and vintage goods and designer items of all kinds:
Rare vintage Books and Magazines, Comics, Vinyl Records, Newspapers and clippings, Decor, Limited-edition prints, Board games, Toys, Designer Clothing and Purses, and Other Collectibles.
Each item is hand picked, Reclaimed, and given a new home.
Hardest part I would say is the research and detail that goes into sourcing each item and starting off as a younger person in the antique industry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Helen ga, it’s beautiful. North ga and the waterfalls, Ponce City market has an amazing array of food and places to drink
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My love for antiques and vintage items stemmed from my Aunt, who is also my godmother, taking me with her when I was younger
My cousin also had a passion for old movies and music and movie stars which opened the door for me knowing a lot of older Hollywood stars the typical person my age wouldn’t Lol
My mom for over the years as well taking me with her on her shopping adventures. Now I drag her with me on my antiquing and I truly enjoy and appreciate having a mother I can do that with. I love her to pieces
Last but not least my boyfriend and best friend Justin for supporting me and also going along with me on my shopping ventures
