We had the good fortune of connecting with Myra Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myra, what makes you happy? Why?
Baking makes me extremely happy, as it is a very creative and passionate outlet for me – not to mention that it makes me focus. And, in my opinion It is also a form of love, and I enjoy showing love through my desserts and seeing the recipient’s reaction. It is also not unusual for me to hear a client tell me that “they can taste the love” in every bite , which warms my heart.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a self-taught, God-gifted baker and have been baking for over 25 years. However, Myra’s Sweet Stuff came to fruition in the Fall of 2018. I focus on made-from-scratch, unique desserts that are very addictive. I personally think that when you bake something special it is intimate, tangible and an edible display of devotion. Nothing compares to a scrumptious dessert hot out of the oven. Additionally, my desserts have opened a lot of doors for me that otherwise would have remained closed. I have had magazine and radio interviews, gained celebrity clientele, partnered with the American Cancer Society – who have allowed me to donate dessert bags to cancer patients and even attended a televised award ceremony in Hollywood. What sets me apart is that I am very meticulous not only about the taste of my desserts, but also the presentation, as well. If it is not perfect. I will remake a cake, cookie or pie (and have on numerous occasions). I take a lot of pride in everything that I do, as it is a representation of me. I also provide quality ingredients and ensure that my customers are always happy. I can remember a cheesecake being shipped out of town (overnight) and it took two days for it to be delivered and the delivery company smashed the cheesecake. Not only did I refund the $90 shipping and cost of the dessert, but I also made a variety dessert box and shipped out immediately to the customer (at my expense). The customer was overjoyed!! There’s not just one thing that I’m proud of, as there are many. When a client, celebrity or family member tells me that they enjoy my desserts or one of my readers tells me how much they enjoyed reading my cookbook and have tried the recipes and enjoyed making the dish, then I am overjoyed. This baking journey has not been easy, but I feel that I’ve created some products that are different, daring and inspirational. I create my own new recipes, revive some old recipes and think that I have put my own personal stamp on baking. God has truly blessed my hands, as I’ve been told!!! I have learned that family members and friends are customers too and to not haggle when it comes to pricing. That’s all I have to say about that. NEXT!!! I would love for the world to take a chance with a non-celebrity baker as myself, who can go toe-to-toe with the best pastry chef or celebrity baker. I have a lot of repeat business, quality products and excellent reviews. On another note, my cookbook “How to Get a Man, From the Kitchen, to the Bedroom, to the Ring” is being re-released in December and my website – Myra’s Sweet Stuff is being relaunched in December, as well. There are some new desserts that will excite my existing customers, as well as, attract new customers. My cookbook and desserts can be purchased at www.myrassweetstuff.com.
