We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Bullock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I see risk as taking a chance knowing that there is a probability of failure or loss. While I’m not one for gambling because it’s heavily based on things out of my control, I’ve realized that my life and career are in my control. Taking risks in my life and career is me actively betting on myself. Without the risk of ending a marriage, starting a business and owning my truth I wouldn’t have my story, my confidence nor be the woman I am today. Without risk I would not love myself as much as I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m more all of the above. None of what I do or who I am today has been easy but man has it been an amazing ride to get here! My largest stream of income is from my 9-5 job where I am an HR Manager focused on Employee Relations and coaching. I thrive in the difficult conversations I have to have with employees, coach managers on how to effectively communicate and am someone who can act as an enforcer, liaison and pseudo therapist with employee and manager personal problems. I’m passionate about coaching and helping people shift their mindset to attract the life and relationships they deserve. I became a certified life coach in 2020 and now have a coaching business where I give tough love to help people see how amazing they are within. My story of loss, from tragically losing my 14 year old brother, Jacob, when I was 19, suffering a stillbirth, getting a divorce, laid off, to giving up my home by 27 to now speaking about overcoming hardships. I deliver keynotes to women’s events and am constantly expanding my speaking business. I have written a poetry book titled MOON FRUIT and a children’s book titled BROWN. both are true representations of my art and meant to help adults and children look within and love themselves through anything. I’m excited to be working on a teens journal for 2021! To wrap it up I host a weekly podcast, Around & Within with Morgan Bullock, relaunching the Jacob D. Bullock Foundation to provide much needed mentorship to the younger generation. I focus on how I can provide impact through authenticity and vulnerability. I want people to love themselves so they have the room to love others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love a food hall, trail, and boutique shopping. So we are definitely going to Ponce City Market, Krog Street market, and Lee & White food over in the West End and biking or walking the belt line that connects them all. For the day I’m feeling bougie and have some money to spend I’m heading to the Buckhead Shops for Tapas at Gyspy Kitchen or dinner at Southern Gentleman and luxury shopping We can go to Slutty Vegan for the experience and the Civil and Human Rights Museum is a MUST! For the artsy bunch, the High Museum of Art never disappoints and if you’re artsy and like a bar hop Edgewood is the spot. Some Restaurants I enjoy are Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours. The mussels at Two Urban Licks are mouth watering! Antico’s Pizza is the closest you’ll get to true Italian pizza

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have an entire tribe of love that I am beyond grateful for. I have incredibly supportive parents, Jay and Heidi Bullock who I consider to be me actual friends. My partner Mahdi Chaney who pushes me in a way that need really propelled me into the thought of betting on myself and going after the life I deserve. My longtime friends Jillian Hicks, Mi’Lisa Patton, Camille Hill and Allie Jest and Domonique Wallace have all talked me off a ledge and through ideas as well as encouraged me to go after everything I speak on. These are just a few on a VERY long list. I have close friends who send me opportunities to apply for, speak my name in rooms I’m not in, and support/promote me when I’m not looking, and for them I am forever grateful. Also, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is amazing.
