We had the good fortune of connecting with Mitchell Tulloch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mitchell, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always wanted to own my own business, I wasn’t sure how or if I could do it. I started doing research, watching videos, learning about the different business structures, the steps to take to start my own business and following others who were already doing what I wanted to do. When I opened my first business, it was very challenging because I was clueless about running a business. I had to learn as I go along. I was in no hurry to build, I took my time and ensure I do something everyday in my business. I kept my 9-5 and worked on my business in the evenings and weekend. What I realized about three years was that it was not possible for me to build a service based business while working a regular job because the hours I am working was the hours my clients needed me, so I had to come up with a plan and work my plan. I set a date and stick to the date when I would leave my job to go into my business full time.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The name of my business is Anytime Tax Services Inc, some of the services I provide to clients are Individual and Corporate tax preparation, payroll services, bookkeeping services, business formation, business coaching, tax planning, and life insurance. At Anytime Tax Services Inc my clients are family. I recognize my clients special days and events. I enjoy partnering with my clients and I am always available to my clients year round. I use a cell phone for my business which enables me to store my clients phone number. It doesn’t matter how many time they call, they are always impress that I answer the phone and say their name before they tell me who they are. I am very proud that I am able to partner with my clients and do what is best for them and their family at all times, I am excited that I was able to meet my client quota for the tax side of my business. I got to where I am today by making a plan and working the plan no matter what happened. It was definitely not easy, many people thought I was crazy for leaving my stable job without enough clients to replace my income. I overcame the challenges by believing in myself, putting in the work and leaning on my faith more than ever in my life. The biggest lesson I have learned is to follow your heart, others could not see my vision because it was given to me and not them. Never be afraid to dream big, work hard, never quit on yourself and always have a plan. I love to help others and that is the best part of my job and my brand.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to my favorite Thai restaurant in Decatur Georgia for dinner, take them to Atlanta in the evening, Atlanta Botanical garden for a day trip, check the Aquarium one day and visit the world of Coca Cola.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family was very supportive of me starting my own business. My siblings would listen to me vent and always let me know that I will be ok if I went full time into my business. My parents believed in me that I could run my own business.
