We had the good fortune of connecting with Miles Daniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miles, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was to make it evolutionary. In other words, I started by building upon the personal and professional experiences gained in an industry over time. With that experience I then developed my strategic, market, financial, and operational plans. The culmination of my understanding of that industry, along with as much practical experience with other professionals who were willing to support the vision, has provided the best foundation for taking the calculated risk of starting my own business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business objectives are to simplify, standardize, and automate. A highly marketable mantra in the complex world of financial products and services, and one that has separated me from most/all my peers in the industry. Getting there, however, was no easy task. It has taken 22 years to develop both the knowledge and understanding required to deliver on these three commitments. I literally started in the basement of the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta and worked my way up, and out, to “Big 4” consulting and Financial Technology (FinTech) companies. While there I gained invaluable perspective by working on the needs of the world’s largest, most complex financial institutions during some of the most disruptive financial times of our generation. All of which has led me to build a successful risk advisory business called “Boundless Risk Solutions” and a Compliance Risk Governance Regulatory Technology (RegTech) business called “RiskApps” to efficiently and effectively manage the two biggest challenges any financial institution faces: time and money.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start at BM Franklin’s hat shop (bmfranklinco.com) to ensure my guest isn’t mistaken for a tourist. From there, I’d take a broad stroke of the city by bicycle on the beltline, stopping along the way at any/all of the those listed in Explore Georgia’s “Ultimate Guide to the Atlanta Beltline” (exploregeorgia.org). After a day to set our bearings, I’d plan deep dives in the variety of hang spots across the city’s many neighborhoods to ensure my guest got a full taste of how richly diverse Atlanta has become, including Midtown, Downtown, Buckhead, Virginia Highlands, West End, West Atlanta, Inman Park/Little Five Points/Old Fourth Ward, Cabbage Town, East Atlanta, and Grant Park at any number of unique café’s (Aurora Coffee, Kinship Butcher and Sundry, Muchacho, Academy Coffee, Buteco), clothing boutiques (Bill Hallman, Kiki Bisous), record stores (Wax and Facts, Fantasy Land), breweries (anywhere Ale recommends-alesharpton.blogspot.com), art galleries (Cat Eye Creative, ABV Gallery), music venues (Northside Tavern, Terminal West, Variety Playhouse), lunch (Glide Pizza, Moe’s and Joe’s, Little Rey, LottaFrutta, Tassili’s Raw Reality), dinner and cocktails (Third Space, Lila Lyla, Redbird, Ticonderoga, Empire State South, Chai Yo, Marcel), late night (Majestic Diner, Octopus Bar, Claremont Lounge). I’d then ask if they had another week as we’ve barely scratched the surface.

My shoutout goes to all those who created obstacles to my professional evolution. They are the ones who helped me realize that I am capable of overcoming anything.
