We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrysta Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chrysta, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My idea of work-life balance has evolved a lot over time. As a full-time student at North Carolina A&T State University, balancing extracurriculars, leadership roles, and work, my schedule was packed but there was more flexibility in how I structured my time. Now, working full-time in as a Social Strategist for Ford in New York City, the stakes and structure feel different. My time is more fixed, and balance requires more intentionality. I think about it less as “perfect balance” and more as prioritization, being disciplined about my responsibilities while also making space for the things that genuinely matter to me, whether that’s relationships, personal growth, or rest. It’s about showing up fully in both areas, even as the scale and demands of life have shifted.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is my drive and passion in everything I do, along with my trust in God to guide my path. I truly believe that what’s meant for me will always find me, and that faith keeps me grounded and motivated, even in uncertain moments. I’m most proud of rechartering Her Campus at my university, turning it into a platform that empowered and amplified the voices of college women, and attending the Grammy Awards as a Recording Academy Scholar—an experience that affirmed that I belong in the rooms shaping culture.

My journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to navigate high expectations, manage multiple responsibilities, and push through moments of doubt. But I’ve learned how to bet on myself, stay disciplined, and turn challenges into opportunities for growth. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that purpose will always carry you further than pressure. And what I want the world to know about me is my work and the intention behind everything I do and I hope it impact and influences people in a positive way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d take them to Atlanta for a week full of good vibes.

We’d start at the Atlanta BeltLine to walk around, try different food spots, and just be outside soaking in the energy. For a cute, brunch meal I would go to wicked wolf and Cru Lounge after.

And we have to hit a game, either the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, or Atlanta Braves; because the energy in Atlanta is just different.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my lifelong best friends, Re’Onna Vines & Sidney Roberts who are both from Atlanta . They have been such a constant source of support, encouragement, and honesty throughout my journey. Whether it was navigating college, big decisions about my future, or just the day-to-day ups and downs, they have always been someone I could lean on. Having someone who sees you fully and still pushes you to be better is rare, and she’s definitely played a huge role in who I am today.
