We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Humes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to show people how I had built a career in real estate and it was important to me to succeed through others. Those two things combined with wanting the ability to have some of my time back created my real estate team.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m super proud that I started our business 3.5 years ago and we will have gross sales of 125 million this year. Bananas to think that this company didn’t exist just a few years ago. I am proud that we are made up of professionals who put our customer first and take care of their families; all while being super successful. The biggest lesson is that people will leave you and that is ok. The ones you start with aren’t necessarily the ones you will finish with. Growth and thinking big are uncomfortable. I’m proud of our marketing efforts…we do unconventional things to have the customer remember us. 🙂 Like our little japanese ice cream van. i have pics i can share if you would like.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would go on the golf cart through peachtree city to my favorite restaurant; grinds and wines. We could then take in a concert at the Fred; our local amphitheater. Would probably spend the rest of the time at home cooking and visiting. I’m a homebody….and love to cook.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dedicated to all of the mentors that poured into me when I was new in real estate at the age of 36 with a brand new baby and husband gone 10 months out of the year.
