We had the good fortune of connecting with Michele Quigley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michele, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life Balance
My business has evolved quite a bit over the past 22 years. It started with a single chair in the basement of my home when I was newly married with one baby boy. In 2015 and three kids later, I was given the opportunity to purchase the 220 where I now offer my community a full service salon. From the addition of chairs to aestheticians and now a full coffee bar and boutique, the business is constantly growing. I realize that I would NEVER be able to accomplish everything I have been able to achieve without a team of incredible people surrounding me. It really does take a support system. And I have the very best one! They are always ready to step in when I need it most so I can be mindful and present in the daily lives of my family. I do my very best to set an example for my kids as my mom did for me by making my family my top priority. Whether it is shuffling my work schedule to early mornings or late at night, I make sure I am free to attend my children’s activities. They are only young once, and like my mom, I am determined not to miss anything.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What to do
Beardstown is known as “The Belle of the Bend”. We are conveniently located on the IL River where there are so many outdoor activities to try. If you were to make a trip, we would definitely take a drive up on the levy to view the marina and the river. We also have a beautiful park with an overlook to watch the boats and skiers.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out
Two words. My. Mom. She, hands-down, has had the biggest influence on my life. She was a single mom who worked hard to provide my siblings and me everything that we needed for success. Growing up wasn’t easy or glamorous, but because of that, she taught me that by combining hard work with big dreams, you can have the life you desire. The values that she instilled in me are a direct reflection of my determination to regularly invest in the community that has invested in me. She showed up. To every activity. No matter how busy her life was.
My husband also inspires me to work hard and put family first. He continues to be the hardest worker in the room all while taking care of his family. If he had not supported me over the years, I would not own the business I run today.
I would be remiss if I didn’t give a nod to Easy Thyme. This small business is the epitome of support. They provide busy families with homemade meals that are both nourishing and delicious. The owner of Easy Thyme, Delane McNeely, is a retired hairdresser who can relate to the constant struggle of being spread thin on time. She started a mission through her church to provide weekly meals for area families. They simply look over the weekly menu and place an order for the meals they would like to have made for them. She has multiple locations where customers can pick up their orders. The 220 has been a pick up location for several years. Her chicken pot pie is one of the best around!
