We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My initial thought behind starting my own business was generational wealth. My husband and I are always dreaming of ways to prepare our family for the future. One day, I was sitting in my closet cleaning out clothes that I’d planned to donate. I said to my husband “I could start a boutique with all of this stuff”. He replied “That’s what I’ve been telling you for years”. That was my aha moment. I immediately started researching how to start my own business, purchased my LLC, and rest is history. As my business grew, my love for the work grew even more. I’m still in growth mode and working to make my business better every day. I living my dreams and enjoying the highs and lows of it all.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business provides elite styling services to dedicated professionals and busy moms. We’ll accentuate your personal style, and give you renewed confidence every time you step out. What sets the business apart from others is the styling experience. We don’t offer a styling package in a box with a pretty bow. We create an unforgettable experience by building sustainable wardrobes that promotes impact, confidence, and passion. We’ve been able to secure an list of loyal clientele and we’re most proud of that.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week long trip would warrant some covid-friendly visits throughout Atlanta. To start, we’d visit some shows (preferably comedy shows), eat great food, and shop!
We’d have to check out Le Petit Marche for breakfast. We’d also explore the High Museum of Art and SCAD Fashion Museum for inspiration. A lunch date is well spent at Antico’s Pizza in Alpharetta. Shopping days would be spent at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta. Late nights would be spent hanging on the Roof at Ponce City Market since they have a nice view of the city. We’d go to a Braves game at the end of the week then enjoy dinner at Houston’s or The Southern Gentleman.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want shoutout my best friend and husband, Cedric. He’s such a great supporter and I appreciate all that he does for my business and our family. I also want to shoutout out three children: London, Caleb, and Christian. They show their Mommy so much love and support. I couldn’t ask for a better crew!
