We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Borlenghi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matt, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I didn’t choose art/creativity, it chose me. As a young child my folks had a friend who was an Italian film director and he told me he was going to make a western and I would be his young cowboy. Sadly, he died before that happened and I was left with a dream that I’ve spent decades chasing. Another thing was that I didn’t consider myself smart enough to do other types of business. It turns out that I was always plenty smart, I just needed to read the right books and study smarter, not harder.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an actor, I have seen highs and lows, as many of us do. These days I’m very proud of my small & humble role on the #1 show in the world, Cobra Kai on Netflix. I play the pawn shop guy and am blessed that it has become a fan favorite character. As an acting coach, I help my clients look at material in way that 99% of other actors won’t, so that helps us stand out from the pack. As a Life & Health insurance agent, I want my clients to know that everything we do together is geared towards their security.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest, I don’t get around much. I live outside of the city, in East Cobb, the suburbs. And while the idea of hitting the hotspots in Atlanta sounds fun for about 5 seconds, it just takes too much energy. I live a quiet life and the most interesting thing I’d take a visiting friend to do would be Shooting the Hootch, which is rafting lazily down the Chattahootchie River. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family is my greatest motivator in my life. From my mother & father to my wife & kids, they have all instilled in me the conviction to do whatever I have to do to keep things going.
