We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlo Meyerhofer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marlo, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The success of Backbends and Brews LLC is 100% attributed to its amazing friends & family advocates, a.k.a The Backbends and Brews Crew. They have encouraged me, attended classes, helped brew up new event ideas, suggested charities, sported & purchased swag, donated and recommended classes to others. I am humbled to work with incredible people and business throughout our community. The energy we gain from each other when we support each other and come together to donate to amazing causes is both motivating and inspiring. Backbends and Brews would not exist without them.
Where are you from and how did your background and upbringing impact who you are today?
My personal background entails gymnastics, dance, BBA in Business with focused education in anatomy and medical device consulting with specialties in spinal repair. These experiences made yoga very appealing to me. I fell in love with it around 10 years ago and continue to learn and reap more benefits from regular practice. Backbends and Brews LLC was created as a way to share that love and knowledge with others and serve by donating and bringing awareness to amazing charities. Backbends and Brews started by the encouragement of amazing friends. We had classes in my basement where our after class “brew time” was homemade kombucha. Then, it began to turn into to wellness workshops, fun events, private sessions, & retreats. Now, I am humbled to say that because of the loving Crew (supportive friends) we have many regular events, classes & new partnerships. These have helped not only bring awareness and support to incredible charities but, have also helped our communities support each other in our new businesses and endeavors. I am so honored to be a part of all the opportunities that started out with a little dream to share my passion. I will gratefully continue to flow where these positive vibes and amazing Backbends and Brews Crew call me to be :-). #Yoga4Peace
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my one of my best out of town friends came to visit I would take them out on Lake Allatoona either for a little Paddleboard Yoga, a coffee cruise, or some surfing. We might go take a hike to Pine Mtn summit, stop by Red Top Brewhouse to hang by the fire pit or one of my favorite pizza places Pizza By Fuscos in Acworth for my favorite pie, the Fungi. In the warmer months I would enjoy taking them by the Acworth Farmers Market, and to sit on the porch and enjoy a meal at 1885 Grill. Honestly we would probably do a lot of porch sitting with some coffee (my local favorites are Blue Collar Joe Coffee Co. & Apotheos Roastery) watching the deer & birds in the morning and in the evening watching the kids play with a little vino. (One of my favorites is Anchors Aweigh Pinot Noir by Broken Anchor Winery). I love relaxing in nature and catching up with friends in casual settings
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been so many supporters who have made Backbends and Brews LLC what it is today. I want to thank my husband, Mark and fun kids, Martha & Marlin who are wonderful sports for allowing me to “test” classes on them, joining, encouraging, and time sacrificing in the name of B&B.
