We had the good fortune of connecting with Marline Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marline, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I became an entrepreneur in 2008 it was due to the lack of interest in working 8 hours for 5 days per week building a company that I was not able to reap long term benefits from. I was in an executive position and was directly responsible for its profit increase for at least 5 years. Although I was being nicely compensated for my work I did not feel like I was growing with the company. Therefore I used the money I earned from this company to start my own venture as a business owner at that time. This was the beginning of many start up attempt and the reason I never gave up!

What should our readers know about your business?
Life Gem Productions, LLC is a production company founded to produce positive content. We are lead by content that would educate, inspire and encourage viewers. I’ve had many challenges throughout my journey and each one of them lead me on the path to my next level. I learned that each person that crosses your path is there for a reason, season or a life time, so pay close attention to those in your life because not everyone is meant to join you on the next level,

As a middle child and single mother I have had a tough path due to choices I made and now that God has blessed me with the wisdom I’d been missing or failing to listen to by people guiding me during my younger years; now I can see clearly. I am very spiritual and faithful to the most high.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Pappadeaux is a Louisiana cuisine restaurant with the most exquisite food and drinks. Anytime someone visits from out of town we definitely make sure to go there for a great meal. I also enjoy karaoke and dancing, but I wouldn’t allow them to leave my state without visiting my church New Mercies Christian Center.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout the company that I originally worked for that gave me the inspiration to become a business owner. My family is also responsible for my dreams and admirations, because without them I would not be who I am today.
