We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Nelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcus, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risk can be very scary. Its a situation involving exposure to danger or in our case ,Putting ourself in a position to lose something.i feel it can be very beneficial to grow personally if you take risk.It shows us what we are capable of doing.in my life i have taken plenty of risk but none compared to what i have done to get myself where i am currently in my career.I dropped everything and moved cities twice with nothing but my car a few clothes and a months worth of rent.I was forced to grow and take on responsibilities that will help me out not only in my career but in my personal life also.Once you know what your capable of doing the skies the limit.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being an actor you must set your self different from everyone else while being exactly what the casting director is looking for.I consider myself a very confident person so i am able to come up with ideas and deliver lines differently which gets me most of my booking. It was not easy ,But i will say the fact that i was humble and learned from quite a people it has helped me get to where i am very fast.i want the world to know how many times I’ve failed.I want them to know how many times i have picked myself back up and how hard it was.But with determination and endurance you can do anything!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
i would show them the food spots around town.B&H Burger in Ponce City Market. Hands down my favorite burger joint right now.If they were in the mood for some soul food i would take them to virgils!if we were going out to the club i would have to say MJQ is the coolest club i have been to so far.its also fun going to some social events around time hands down my favorite would be greenlitatl. Lastly for just a fun night out we are going to the painted duck.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
i would like to give a shoutout to Christopher Jeffreys,Todd Anthony,Patrick Lamont, and my family of course, Maddi, and everyone else that has helped me get to where i am now. These people kept me on my toes and talk to me daily to never give up.I appreciate every single one of them.
