We had the good fortune of connecting with Malik Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malik, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It started as an impulsive decision. I wanted to make money but I didn’t want to get a job lol. So that’s how my business started and the rest is history

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well I have my hand in a little bit of everything right now. Currently I am a Marketing Director for this preschool, business owner of my cosmetic business ALookBeauty, and a content creator. I’m very proud of myself for accomplishing everything I set out to do because a year ago I would have never thought I be in a position where I’m doing something that I love to do and get paid for it. It was not an easy journey at all, and in someways I’m still on this journey. However, what I learn is that what is meant for me will always find me. I went through a time where I disconnected from everything to connect back to myself. I mean after a year like 2020 I think we all needed to make sure our mental health was in a better shape. When this year started I really wanted to walk into the best version of myself. I knew there was a Malik inside of me that needed to be alive in this walking life. So I took a risk and for 3 months I only invested into myself. I wasn’t on social media or engaging in anything I felt wasn’t feeding me the way I needed to be feed in all aspects. However, this is where the mantra “I don’t chase, I attract what’s for me will simply find me” comes into play. While I was “away” not only did I get a wonderful job working in my career field but I got so many opportunities to do things that will better help my brand. Really the main reason why I came back to social media so soon is because certain brands reached out to collaborate. I don’t say that to brag I say that to say always stay focus. Stay focus and consistent on what set your soul on fire. Figure out what it is you want out of life and move in that direction, and that’s one of the biggest lesson I learned. God will never not allow your gift to seem but you gotta accept whatever it is and walk in it. Thrive in it! Live in it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh wow. Well me personally I would probably take them to the park or a walking trail 😂 lmaooo but only in the day time because if it’s nice a sunny we needa be outside! However at nice I would say get dress and go to a nice hookah lounge. Good vibes and good people be there. I also would plan for us to do something fun like let’s go to the jump world. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my parents for always pushing me to my greatest potential and my current boss Lashundrea Partee. Not only has she been my best boss yet but she has gave me some really valuable life advice that I use everyday.
