We had the good fortune of connecting with Main Event and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Main, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is a must! In life, in your career and just with everything you do you have to take risks. You have to think outside the box and do whatever it takes to accomplish your goals. You can’t be timid when it comes to pursuing you dreams. I think understanding that some risks may come with failure is key but also knowing that failure really isn’t failure until you completely quit and give up.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Main Event the artist, the brand.. basically just came from me always feeling like I was the best. I wanted to be the Main Event in and at everything. I’m stoked that world gets to go on this life journey with me. I make music for the feeling. It’s weird because I’m not a emotional person but I’m in tuned with all my emotions. So when I’m feeling something I think about the world and my fans, and I just start to create. Knowing that at the specific moment someone else is feeling me exact same feeling. I got to where I am today by believing in myself. I had people believe in me but if no one ever believed in me I had enough mental strength to tell myself I was going to make it despite all the bumps in the road..
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well first you can’t come to Atlanta and not hit up Magic City. Other than that to be honest, I’m really a home body.. I’d rather be around family at the crib playing Monopoly or UNO.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shout out to my circle. The people who keep me going even when they don’t even realize they are pushing me at times. Tay, Brandon, Zo, Mhad, Khalil, my kids, my manager Ashley, my everything Sharell, God, my mom, my dad, my uncle. I could go on but all of those who I named keep me grounded and had a part in this success..
