We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lori, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Being that I am an adrenaline junkie , I feel like taking risks gives me that pleasure to just jump out there and learn new things . Due to the fact that I am not fearful of new challenges and dont like the feeling of being stagnant , taking risks has brought me to where I am both personally and professionally. If I never risked learning more about this industry and just taking the time to do the field work on my own , I wouldn’t be as successful as I am today . Although I am mindful of what risks I take, it does push me outside of my comfort zone to achieve a goal.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and operator of a pool company called Guyco Pool Services in Atlanta, Georgia. The name Guyco originated from my late father, Guy. My company offers services and maintenance plans to help clients enjoy their pool without having to lift a finger as long as I am their designated pool technician. This includes but is not limited to drain and clean , acid wash , pressure washing , and painting if necessary. I also offer a variety of maintenance plans ranging from biweekly to weekly based on the demand of the customer . With my services the client can guarantee their pool is 100% swim ready all season long . May I add I offer year round services as well.
What sets me apart from others is my resilience and my personality. I will never let anything steal my joy no matter how difficult a task may be and I will always complete every service , rather big or small , to the best of my ability . I am most proud of how far I’ve come from just a year ago . I’ve learned so much over that period of time , but I am eager to learn and will always remain a student to my craft . I got where I am today by staying hungry , being consistent, and setting goals for myself. This was not easy . Nothing is ever easy or is just handed to you unless you work for it and that’s exactly what I did . Day in and day out I am working . If I’m not working then I am researching . After I research I apply that knowledge and I just continue to elevate . That’s the way the game goes . The lesson I learned along the way is to never give up . Whenever I feel defeated I take a deep breath , think about it , and figure it out. But I NEVER give up . What I want the world to know about Guyco Pool Services is that my company goes above and beyond to put a smile on your face with hard work and dedication .
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For a week long trip in Atlanta there is plenty to do , but if a friend of mines is visiting the area and I’m in charge of the itinerary they may as well have a outfit for everything possible because we are going to be everywhere . First and foremost I am an outdoor, adventurous type of person so depending on what we are feeling we may go to the park and ride bikes , go hiking up a waterfall, just vibe outside, have a picnic , go to a drive-in movie. etc. I do alot in one day so it’s hard to just plan . I’m not a planner I’m very spontaneous so we may end in another state or even tubing or white water rafting you never know lol. I’m not much of a clubber , so we would do something fun like bowling , karaoke and things of that sort . If I love to eat I know my friends love to eat so where we would eat at is not an issue and would just come naturally , but 9 times out of 10 it would probably be a seafood boil lol .
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shoutout first and foremost to my community for giving me an opportunity to showcase my abilities and supporting my business . I appreciate the great reviews , referrals and nevertheless the encouragement to keep going no matter how hard some tasks may seem. The pool community of course motivates me daily . Everyone who I’ve encountered in this industry is so friendly, helpful, and willing to offer advice . I am grateful for my mentor, Corey, as well. He has taught me things I thought were impossible and always remained patient with me throughout the process. So I would like to say thank you to each and every person who has believed or supported me in any way.
